Hey guys!

We are opening a Karaoke club in Gainesville, FL in the coming months. We will have a huge full bar, a main lounge, and around 5 private rooms of varying size.

The place will be more modern and contemporary than pub, and will have a mostly college age crowd (we think).

I'm looking for a KJ, DJ, or MC who has a talent for motivating and drawing in crowds, who is young, energetic, and interactive. I don't care if you have bad equipment, because we will be outfitting the bar with state-of-the-art sound equipment and a fancy high tech karaoke server system. I want someone who can bring the crowd and likes getting tips.

If you're interested, shoot me an email at Martin88@ufl.edu (new, more business-like email is TBA) I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks guys and girls,

Martin

You lost me at young. Age discrimination. I can be just as energetic as ANYONE! I've got plenty of people that will assure you of that.

Not too many here (if they did or do live in the area) will be much interested in running a bar's set up.

On the flip side, it does sound like a good place. Don't hire a pirate!

This may be in Athena's neck of the woods, but I'm also thinking of Harryoke.

no a bit too far from me...over 2 hours. Passed the info to legit Kj's in the area. The server situation may be perfectly legal as the server and all rooms are located under the same roof. This will be a karaoke "box" type location. Guess we will have to wait and see :o

Bah! If it was a "supply your own gear" scenario, I would have taken the opportunity to start multi-state operations!

Haha I didn't mean to discriminate. Young at heart is just as good as far as I'm concerned.

And since we will be a karaoke themed bar, we will be supplying the karaoke system including the song bank. I'll take care of the whole debacle that is karaoke licensing myself to avoid any risk there.

Since we are going to be a "karaoke box" we will have a main room and then 5 separate rooms that groups can rent out by the hour. Each has its own karaoke system interface, but all the songs and software are run off a main server in a back room. That way you don't have to have 6 different hosting platforms. Also, you don't have to pay to license 6 sets of songs, because the system will not allow a song to be played in more than one place at a time. It even runs the Point-of-Sale and back of house system. This is a relatively standard set up overseas in China/Japan (Their karaoke tech is significantly more advanced than ours, since its many times more popular there).

Thanks for the feedback guys. Keep it coming and again, if you are interested in more info, please email me.

I personally LOVED bars who had their own equipment. Less setup and breakdown for me. All I had to do was connect my computer to my mixer, and I was off and running. Made things sooo much easier.

I just hope they aren't going to use crappy midi style karaoke files like some of the systems use.

I'm in South Florida, but I come up to Gainesville to visit friends from time to time. Would you be doing one-time shows, ever?

Not my cup of tea, manage at work, managing boxes doesn't sound like fun to me. I rather like the MC/DJ/KH type title. I like to mingle and have an audience. I'm sure there is someone in the area qualified.
