Ever wish there was a single web site you could go to and search a database of every known karaoke track ever made and instantly find the song you're looking for and where to legally get it?

Well, we're building it now... ...stay tuned

http://www.icroons.com/ Thanks for the link, RLC.

I read in one of the threads after the summit about Bob Latshaw's presentation in that he was the only one that presented a far better solution & a more viable transcription. I would definitely try it out when the site becomes operational. But first, I need to get Karma & get familiarized with it. They have a reasonably priced karaoke package, 3 items for $169.

@Brian A, I've been using Karma since the first of the year, and love it. I was using Show Presenter (Sax & Dottys), and Karma is lightyears ahead.

What kind of laptop are you using for Karma? I'm also using the old school S&D Show Presenter/Winamp but my os of choice is WinXP Pro. It's the most stable platform for the old S&D. Never had a crash, ever! I also have the recent Show Presenter on Win7 but not very reliable. Freezes up every now & then.
I'm due for an upgrade. Windows 8 by year's end with Karma. That would be nice.

I had a similar site last year, didn't fare too well. Of course, mine wasn't linked with karaoke software, either.

My next project is a karaoke player. So, maybe it will be.

iCroons is dead in the water. This from Latshaw's Facebook Page.

It's with great regret that I have to announce that due to the completely unfair practices of the music publishers in this country, the iCroons.com project will have to be abandoned indefinitey. We tried to play fair and offer KJs a simply source for legally purchasing and downloading MP3+G content, but evidently, even linking to sites in other countries is something that will invite a lawsuit. You KJs need to really understand how absolutely ruthless the music publishers are in this country. They are the reason that Sound Choice can't offer downloads and had to sell out their catalog to the karaoke channel in Canada, the reason why Digitrax can only offer music rentals, and the reason why over in the UK they're doing so well because they don't have the level of greed and complexity that exists with publishers in this country. That being said, although I can't legally promote piracy, I can give an opinion on the matter, and that opinion is that until the music publishers of this country play on a level playing field, I personally have no problem with the thought of KJs downloading millions of karaoke songs for free every day. Why wouldn't they? It's the easiest route and the music publishers frankly deserve it for their lack of vision and their lack of caring about the people who would want to legally purchase their content here in the U.S., and they refuse to offer a simplified system like they have over in the U.K.. I don't have the resources to influence congressmen or fight them in court. In fact, the entire American karaoke industry combined doesn't have the resources. All I can do is to inform you KJs of what the situation really is and let you decide for yourselves.

Thanks for posting, Diafel. Wow, sorry to hear. All my hopes for a simplified, legal, much anticipated one-stop all karaoke download website came crashing down. So now, how does this affect or what does the future hold for “karaoke in the cloud”? Digitrax – care to give us an update?

I do hope the kj pirates don’t construe the above statement coming from a karaoke entrepreneur as a ringing endorsement. :)

The pirates don't need a ringing endorsement. But I do see the overall condition of the industry pushing even more legitimate hosts toward piracy. With few exceptions, new hosts coming in certainly aren't buying up tons of music.

So much for slowing down on my disc buying. Guess I will be back on eBay and Craigslist this weekend.

The next time someone says that this is the greatest country in the world, I am going to kick them in the teeth. :argue:

The greed pure greed in this country is ridiculous. Every time a good idea is brought up someone threatens a lawsuit. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Sorry Latshaw Systems, I was right there with you, hoping this would work out. I guess I will just keep using Tricerasoft until a better option comes along.

An additional quote from the Latshaw page:

Latshaw Systems
I need to clarify that when I say "music publishers", I'm not referring to the karaoke producers who make the karaoke music and CDs. I'm talking about the publishers that represent the record labels and original artists. So, the greed is not in the karaoke industry. The American karaoke song makers like Sound Choice and Chartbuster would LOVE to offer inexpensive downloads. They just can't, and the American music publishers are completely to blame because they have the karaoke makers hands tied by not allowing them to offer downloads like they do in other countries.

Oh well. We can just buy them overseas. That's what I do. I won't buy a lot of redundant CD+Gs. I don't want 10,000 dupes, trips, and more. I want only what gets requested, after I get a good amount to start with. If American music publishers won't allow the companies here to modernize, I will shop elsewhere. They are just hurting our manufacturers, which could end up hurting the publishers.
