It strikes me like a series of commercials for the karaoke cloud (Digitrax) and their partners. I guess its no surprise being that they were the ones who organized this "summit". I mean they took the time to invite folks from Sony, JoltSoft, Latshaw, Sound Choice, Singing Machine, Karaoke Warehouse and Karaoke.com to give it the appearance of an industry discussion, and those folks took it that way, and they all gave very good input on the future of the karaoke industry (and most of them didn't use their time to solely give a sales pitch for their products), but, anything related to the karaoke cloud came across as a sales pitch. I just remember the bulk of the time being given to these prerecorded commercials for digitrax's partners, and after seeing that this is what they're releasing first, I have no doubt of what their intentions were.

If Digitrax intends to have more of these "summits", they seriously need to step back and look at how it appears, before the whole thing loses credibility. The United Nations has summits. This looked like Hitler calling in other countries and taking most of the time to say "this is the future, get used to it". I've seen polls on this forum and others, and an overwhelming majority of KJs voted down the cloud idea and bascially said they'd never use it and they don't like the idea of "renting" content. The karaoke cloud will exist, but it will be a very small portion of the professional KJ market, and they need to learn their place before these other industry leaders say "screw this!" and stop coming to their "summits", because lets be honest, this wasn't a summit. It was a sales pitch for the karaoke cloud.

I think there should be karaoke industry summits. I just think they need to be run by someone who isn't using it to serve their own needs, and even if they are, at least make sure you give it the appearance of being equal by giving youselves no more time than the rest of the people in the room.

If they want to be taken seriously, they need to engage Pro Karaoke Hosts from a wide set of geographies, listen to what they have to say, and treat them as partners.

amen Chris. i am with you 100% here.
we as hosts ARE the karaoke industry. without us there is no industry as no one would know that is out where or care. we need as much if not more of a presence as the products they (manus as a whole, software, tracks, etc.) should care a bit more about whaqt the customers (pro hosts) want and need. SC has shown they dont care, Latshaw has shown (from thread after thread on forums) they dont care about us......someone needs to. what good is the greatest product in the world if no one wants to buy it?

LMAO!!! Who are you kidding. They only see KJs as dollar signs. They don't care about you, and you are fooling yourself if you think they do!!

That makes no sense. If no one wants to buy something, how could it possibly be great?

I totally agree. The problem is, like I've been saying all along, it's not about us, it's about them. They could care less about what we think.

Because they tell us it is. How could we not believe them? After all, they only have our best interests in mind right?

What are they not doing that you want them to do?

Yup. It would be like the music industry having a large summit about the future of music...and not inviting any musicians.

DELUSION ALERT!!! This and every other effort has ALWAYS been about the manus getting what they want. Anyone who thinks that any efforts made by them in the past that may have in any way apeared to show some concern for them, and it wasn't without profit in mind for themselfves, is certianly delusional. The warranty has run out on the not-so-shiny CDs and now it is time to be shady salesmen again and promote the new kid on the block (which in this case is a few years old, but...that is another whole subject...)

I rest my case about their intentions. Here we are three weeks after the fact, and still no video of the entire summit.

I have tried to contact someone from the event but the email addresses I thought were correct weren't I know the administration is attempting to as well.

I really would like to have a copy of the actual summit for those that missed it.
