If a celebrity appeared at one of your karaoke nights would you be inclined to let them jump the queue of singers waiting to sing and not have to wait there own turn?

we've had this kind of posting before.

ONLY if the crowd were up to it.

It's kinda a moot point. Most celebs when they're out in public don't want to be noticed! LOL!

You know what would be really fun???

If you ever became famous, to go to a karaoke bar "incognito" and hear how people sing your songs.

That would be so much fun!

And as for celebrities jumping the line? Well, we don't have any up here, so we don't have to worry LOL! The most famous we have ever had was a football player from the CFL. WOO HOO!

It would be cool though...:)

Well known celebrities.....

Depends on who it is. There are many well known celebrities that are not well loved celebrities. I'm sure if it was a well loved celebrity like hmmmmmmm Reba McEntire, sure as hell I'd let her jump the line, but if it would be that little **** Eminem, I'd rather drown him in the toilet.

Just my opinion.

someone posted once that a country singer (male) went to a karaoke contest... he wasn't all "dudded" up, and he sang one of his own songs.

When he hadned the mic back to the kj, the kj actually said he didn't sound as good as the original singer. I wish I could remember who it was all about... was a great read!

I was at a karaoke place in Burbank where Winona Ryder showed up one night. She didn't sing though, so I don't know if they would have put her up right away.

There's another "celebrity" that I've seen at the same place a couple of times. Very very very minor Z list celebrity - Chris Hardwick, the guy who used to host "Singled Out" on MTV (the Jenny McCarthy dating show). He always had to wait for his turn in the rotation.

I heard that John Goodman had been to the bar a couple of days prior to Winona, but I wasn't there so I don't know if and when he sang.

There aren't many stars that come here (Ahr-nuld did a number of years ago but I didn't hear of him singing karaoke). If it's a well known star I'd likely bump them up if they turned in a slip just to make sure they got a chance to sing before someone did something stupid (unless it's someone no one really knew about like C. Thomas Howell). If they insisted on it, were complete a$$es, or if it's that (insert insulting description here) Jewel I'd probably skip them in the first rotation or two.

We have a few celebs come into the bar. Pretty big names, moreso locally but they've had hits worldwide as well. One happened to come in on karaoke nite. I told him we had his song if he wanted to sing it, and all he had to do was let me know and I'd get him going. He looked at me kinda derisively and said, "Hey, I do this for a living." I got his drift and told him "suit yourself." I coulda said, "Hey, I'm a computer analyst but I still fix the club's computer." but why push it? Anyhoo, one of the girls overheard it and said "Well if he ain't gonna do it, I'll do it." and she put herself up for his number. A couple of people suggested it might be rude, but I snatched it up and nudged it forward in the rotation. She did great and got a huge hand from the crowd, even from our celeb, who I think had no choice but to applaud with everyone looking at him.

One night I was filling in at a gig in hollywood and the writer of a Jefferson Starship song came in and requested his tune. He started singing and one minute in it started SKIPPING!!!! I freaking lost it. One of the lowlights of my 9 years in the game. Now if Paris Hilton or her sister Nikki dropped in then I just might have to make an exception .......

Metalgod, Nikki's due to have a divorce party in another week or so, maybe you should look into providing the entertainment. :P

Did you let the songwriter start over hoping it was a dirty disk, or did you make him pick a different song? Definitely should have played the "that's because it gets played every night" card. :)

We had the wrestler, Mark Calloway (The Undertaker in the WWE) showed up one night. He didn't sing, but he was pretty cool and layed back with the crowd. When he left, he did that roll the eyes up in the back of the head thing.

One of the shows I used to attend was right across the street from the Miami Dolphins practice facility. It wasn't unusual to see some players in there after a tough game, of during the preseason.

One night, the entire offensive line was there, and heard me doing Meatloaf, "2 out of 3", and came up to me and asked if I knew "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights"....I said sure, and then he asked me to sing it with him!!!

You have never lived till you see a drunk 300+ pound lineman using falsetto going "Stop right there......."

TRUE Story! (Still haven't lived it down)

we had the majority of the basketball team here in Portland OR show up at my (then) partner's DJ gig. The Blazers. Also, Snoop showed up at his gig once too.

I've never had a celeb show up at any of my gigs... although many that have felt that they were! I did a private party for a very wealthy individual, and the mayor and many of her cabinet and advisers were there! big deal. She introduced herself to me, I said "hello" and when she asked me what the problem was, I went off on her about her tax plan including the $5 billion dollar expansion of our highway system! she kinda took a step back. She's surrounded by Yes men her whole time, and doesn't get to talk to the aveage joe... and she doesn't handle it well. She also can't debate for crap! LOL!
