Hello everyone, I would like to conduct a survey of the karaoke music that has been requested at your shows from 6/24/2012 - 6/30/2012. The purpose of this survey is to determine the most popular songs "right now". Members of this forum will be able to use the information in any manner they wish as the results will be posted on here as soon as I receive enough data. If you have a singer/show history function, I'll take everything. If you don't, please consider making a list of what you think was requested, or what is usually requested. I'll take as few as your "Top 10 Karaoke Songs", but I'll gladly accept as many as you can give me. I am going to adhere to genuine statistical methods (Triola's) as much as I can. Therefore, I request that your results be submitted to my email address so that your data does not influence other members. That email address is TroyVnd27@aol.com. Please also include your state - results will be available by regions of the country. Your submissions can be in any of the following formats: MS Excel, Works, Notepad (.txt), or plain text in an email. Thank you in advance for your participation. |

Not to keep you from doing your own thing but just as an FYI, the US Karaoke Alliance has compiled and put out such a list on a yearly basis--but maybe you will get a broader sample by collecting data from this forum that may have a larger base. |

I have provided many "services" to this forum, including most recently donating two karaoke utilities that I programmed free of charge. I had hoped that I am doing many folks a service by compiling this study - after all, there isn't anything close to a genuine statistical representation of the most popular karaoke music. And trust me, this study is in the right hands - I am a statistics freak, trained & proficient in Mario Triola's renowned statistical methods. I'd appreciate your input, but if not, I understand. Feel free to check out the results anyway. Thanks |

Thank you. I'll be sure to check it out. As I mentioned in the post above, I am very much into statistics and statistical methods. It is literally a 20+ hour a week hobby of mine. In fact, over the last 3 years, I'm sure I've logged over 3,000 hours studying & applying the methods. Hopefully, I'll get a lot of responses and I can get a true representation of what is really the most popular karaoke music in the U.S. & Canada. Then, we can compare ours to USKA's. |

I think any given karaoke hosts top 10 is going to be a bit useless, actually. The top 10 most requested at my bar, as I suspect at most everyone else's, are the songs that the most regular of the regulars sing week after week. I think the survery would be more accurate if you could ask everyone to exclude their regulars, if possible. With that, this would be my top 10 in Tampa Bay, FL, per my CompuHost stats, if I take out the top selections that I and my frequent regulars sing: 1. Picture - Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow 2. Before He Cheats - Carrie Underwood 3. Killy Me Softly - Fugees 4. Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Pat Benetar 5. Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond 6.Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi 7. Summer Nights - Grease 8. Give Me One Reason - Tracy Chapman 9. Baby Got Back - Sir Mix Alot 10. With enough participation, one regular at one bar won't skew the results. Even so, my methods will essentially disregard singletons/outliers. There is a certain weight that is given to a song that appears on more than one KJ's list. |
