Post subject:  Ripper that you can tell it what disc is in the drive?

So I'm beginning to rip some discs as they come in and some discs I guess don't have the metadata info or file or whatever it is that tells the ripping program what disc is in the drive. So I'm looking for a ripping program that allows me to tell it what disc I have if it's not recognized by the program automatically and the track information will be input by freedb or ???

I just got a bunch of Top Tunes, Pioneer, and some other misc discs. I'm not really interested in audiograbber, I want something better and I don't want to do this again-EVER unless I get some new discs. I'm ripping at a high bit rate too and I want high quality rips with no graphics errors and high quality sound. I'm ripping to mp3+g. Is there such a program out there? Thanks in advance.

I have been using CDGRip, and if it doesn't find it with Gracenote, you have to input the data yourself.

I use Power Karaoke's Power CDG Burner. Works great for me, and has the ability to use many different on-line databases to identify the disk you are ripping. Pretty much, if it isn't in FreeDB, it isn't on-line.

Window's Media Player can also look up the disks for you. In my XP Media Center Edition, I believe it was under "Get Album Info".

PowerKaraoke Burner. Very user friendly. I like the Free DB look-up – it will automatically identify the cd brand & the song content. It will burn CD+G (BIN, CDG, MP3+G, and ZIP) songs. Download a free 30 day trial version, check it out & see if you like it. Make sure your setting is at the highest - 320kbps. Power CD+G Burner, current version 1.7.16 http://www.powerkaraoke.com/src/dnl_eval.php

Also, download trial version of Power CD+G Player Pro, current version 1.0.21 (same webpage). Comes in handy - play & watch your rip/burn with a click on the program while cd is still in the drive.

If you do decide to buy this program post again on any issues you may encounter & we will try to help. Many forum posters gave me a helping hand while I was in the process, we wouldn’t hesitate to impart that acquired knowledge back to you. :)

These days I mostly use CDGRip.

Now and then I still use MP3G+Toolz to rip since that is also my primary file renaming tool. But it is no longer supported by the programmer so I have been less likely to use it.

That same programmer (I believe it is the same guy) has had a new site up and claims to be working on some new tools. But he has not updated it in over a year now. i sent him an email this morning to get a status update.

Tried CDGrip and it wouldn't let me input the disc ID so no track info comes up.

Anyone tried the ripper from Tricerasoft?

CDGrip uses Gracenote to find the info. Unfortunately, it doesn't find every disc, but it's good for 90%.
