Maybe I'm being dense about understanding this, but I want to take files that have the format: First Name Last Name - Song Name and have a program transform the track name for both the .mp3 and the .cdg in an entire folder to Last Name, First Name - Song Name --- OR --- take a folder that has the format: Last Name, First Name - Song Name and reverse it so I can print a book by Song Name - Last Name, First Name (this I think is an easy one and pretty much any song book program will do it. I think Sevarin was trying to tell me that KJ File Manager will do this, but . . . ? KJ File Manager just seems difficult to use to me.
Anyone using Tricerasoft song book software?

Anyone using Tricerasoft song book software? What's hard about KJ File Manager? You drag your mouse across the songs you want to change, right click and choose a tool option, and one of them is "Comma Flip Artist". Personally, I like the straight naming with first name first. The world is kinda getting away from that old school library index method. Even my iPhone sorts all the artists names by the way they're worded normally. If I want to go to Peter Gabriel, I have to go to the "P" section. All my books are that way. Sure at first a couple older people asked why, but no one does anymore and they're just used to it.

Thanks for the reply, I downloaded the demo and it just didn't seem that easy. I had no idea you could do it the way you described based on fiddling with it. I've spent a lot of time already manually changing file names and it's a pain in the a$$.
So you're saying that you drag the files into KJFM or how? and then you choose comma flip name then save them in the new file names. What if I need to go back and re-edit files? It seemed like once I had edited files and saved the changes the program wouldn't let me re edit them if I made a mistake or decided I wanted to do it another way. Maybe it was like that because it was the demo version?
Jeez, why can't programmers make their programs simple to learn and simple to operate and simple when looking at them to choose what you want to do?
Is there any other program out there that will do this one function? Flip the artist name from First Name Last Name to Last Name, First Name?

Yeah, that's exciting except I need help now. Too bad there isn't a good video tutorial on Youtube on how to do the most common functions in KJ File Manager. There must be something else out there that can comma flip the artist name.

Is there any other program out there that will do this one function? Flip the artist name from First Name Last Name to Last Name, First Name? You don't just drag the files in Windows or from Windows. That would be impossible since there's no way for the program to know what title format the files are already in. You need to import them into the program first, and you do that by clicking the import button. Just make sure you select the correct title format that matches your files. Once it reads your files into the program, the rest is a piece of cake. Actually the first part is a piece of cake too. The magic is in how easy it is to do anything to any number of files at once. It's even easy to select multiple songs. You can literally drag the mouse across a bunch of files to hightlight them. If you want to pick specific files, hold the CTRL key down on your keyboard while clicking the different files you want. If you want to select all files, either right-click and choose "select all" or hit CTRL-A on your keyboard (these are standard in windows too) After you select the file(s) you want to change, just right click and you'll see the list of all the tool options you can do to those files. There is no simpler way to do it, and I've yet to see a program that can do all that in any fewer steps. Everything else is automatic. All renaming functions automatically rename both the MP3 and corresponding CDG files, and if you have zip files, it automatically renames the files in the zip file. I don't recommend keeping your files zipped because it just makes everything take a little longer, and that's true with any program. Once you take a couple minutes to learn the basics, I think you'll see that it's a powerful well thought out tool. The same goes for all their products. You're right though. Most programmers don't take the time to make the interface easy to use. Unfortunately, karaoke files aren't like word documents. It's not just a simple open and edit thing. If it weren't for the various title formats out there, I think all karaoke apps would be at least one step easier to use, but I do think the guys at Latshaw have taken the time to make things as easy as they possibly can be.

OK, I reinstalled KJFM and tried it again on a few test files and in fact it does work just fine, it does switch the names, it does reverse the artist name-title to title-artist name it zips the files too if you want.
It seemed easier to operate this time compared to when I looked at it before. I have been at this for a couple of weeks and after staring at the screen for 10+ hours a day I get very fatigued. I think I was just having a hard time concentrating when I first looked at it.
Thank you very much Karaokelan. Now the question is, will it convert thousands of files in one folder at one time? I have 4500 Chartbusters tracks which is 9000 files in one folder.

you could have done it with rename master but i would have had to explain it to you. I have done it but it's a little more than just drag and click.

Rename Master is awesome and it works really well. It takes a bit of careful study to get the hang of it, but once you do it's great. Now that I have a basic understanding of KJ File Manager I'm just going to go ahead and buy it. It will save me A LOT of time and if I would have used it from the beginning I could probably have saved 10-20 hours if not more. Rename Master has been a real time saver and it came at a time where I am weary and so ready to be done with this tedious process.

Yes, but you'll have to buy a license ($39) to do that many. You're limited to 10 files in trial mode, but once you activate a license it's unlimited and I've never heard of anyone ever throwing too many files at it. As long as your files aren't zipped, it shouldn't take more than a minute or two to rename all 9,000.

Yes Karaokelan, if you look at my last post I said I was going to buy KJ File Manager. Quote: Now that I have a basic understanding of KJ File Manager I'm just going to go ahead and buy it. It will save me A LOT of time and if I would have used it from the beginning I could probably have saved 10-20 hours if not more. It's worth buying considering how much time it's going to save me just comma flipping the entire Chartbuster folder of 4500 songs. I wish I had it when I first started. I wish I knew what I was doing when I first started. I wish I knew about Rename Master when I first started ripping. Right now I'm just ripping and then separating out the files that are in the proper format from the ones that need to be changed. Once all the ripping is done I'll use KJFM to comma flip the ones that were separated out as needing to be changed. Then when I'm done I'll need to print books. I plan on printing 4 artist and one title. I will be SOOOOO happy when this is over.
