give the venue a Safe Harbor packet, that will fix everything.
sorry bout your player, that sucks.
can't you just get a player from GC or somewhere else for $100.00 and keep going while you transfer to digital?

Another player is way cheaper than 3 months lost wages and maybe the gig forever.

Why don't you just buy another player, or two? You should have had at least two of them. Some of those RSQ players look pretty good, pretty much like the old JVCs. I know that is the VERY FIRST thing I am going to buy. I have one player, just got it used. I am going to get a second to back it up.

Yep an extra player while you make the conversion and run the show as you would, converting when you can.

Not to mention, the extra player is good if your computer then crashes down the road.

Still using the old workhorse cdg dual tray player, Pioneer PD-V10G. Got two of 'em & just outperforming other cdg players for years. Built like a tank. I had these for over 15 years & still performs like it was from day one. :)

2 units in my pro-rig, 2 in my home rig, and in one storage for back-up. I believe they were priced at $399.99 when it first came out.

Alright, then kjathena. Let's start bidding! Just kidding. I think I have more than enough to last till I retire.

The last set of discs I purchased the lady through in 2 Pioneer PD-V10G because some the DK's were copies. I use 2 Pioneer DVD V555's, because they are even simpler to use and faster to load.

What if you set up your computer with hosting software that can play discs from the cd/dvd drive?
That way you could be hosting shows as normal still using your cds while you are in the process of ripping your discs to the computer.
Try some of the free trials listed on the software page here:

My personal favorite is DigitalKJ, but some of the other popular software will also play CDs directly from the DVD/CD drive too. Try the demo versions to make sure it will work on your drive before you buy.
You could be back in business much sooner than you think.

I question the idea of going, "completely digital". There will always be those folks that like to bring their own discs just so they know the version. I think the advice to get another player to use while converting was a very wise one.

I agree but i also need a break...so I think everything happens for a reason.... btw....I dont allow singers to use their discs at my show..dont want to have to keep track or take care of someone elses stuff...no thank u...lol

Gocha and gocha. I can certainly understand needing a break! You raise a good point with the discs; Think I'll add a sign that says Discs must be original and we are not responsible for discs. If they wanna, and its not on me, I don't care. Queueing them isn't a big deal for me. I arranged for it when I wrote my front end.

Now, that's a much more honest answer than what you've posted in past years about this. THIS, I can respect and accept from you.

WAY cheaper. This is NOT the time to go digital. If you can't afford a new player, what will you do when The SC strongarm folks wander in your direction? Pay for an audit, which gets you nothing for your money? I would wait for the digital dust to settle before going to PC, and I might add that there are THOUSANDS of posts in many forums in regard to problems with THAT media. I would pick up an inexpensive player NOW, and wait.
