| Post subject: | Short versions of LOOOOOOONG songs |
I know I've seen people here say that they have shortened versions of long songs like American Pie and PBTDBL. Please tell me what discs they are on and who manufactures them so I can hunt them down. More often than not, the people who sign up for these songs forget how long they really are and lose interest around minute 6, even to the point of just saying chuck it and walking off the stage. |

Rapper's Delight by Sugarhill Gang - The Singing Machine G5102. Shorter by about 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. Not the best mix, the mid rapper's lyrics aren't the original (they're shorter) and Wonder Mike (the first and last rapper) doesn't do the entire end of the rap. The SC version is 7 1/2 minutes long IIRC. |

SC has a short version of Freebird, without the long guitar duet at the end, on the Foundations 1 set. |

Zoom has a short version of Paradise - deleted the announcer section. Pioneer used the 45 RPM (yes the old vinyl) for their karaoke version of American Pie so it's half the song. All Hits has a short version of Scenes From An Italian Restaurant. Rappers Delight I don't really consider a long song as the singing is over in the 5 minute mark, the rest is outro music - which can be faded, but All Hits also has a shortened version of this as well. |

Sunfly also did that with PBTDBL (Cut the Narration...It must be a UK thing). I believe Performance Tracks also cut American Pie. Music Maestro (Ich!!! Blech! Phooey!!) cut Come Sail Away. Not only did they cut the 56 measure instrumental break, but they omitted the 2nd stanza of the song as well. |

Sun Fly also has an abridged version of AMERICAN PIE. It is only 1/2 the song. I do tell people that I will pull this if my rotation is very very long. I ask if they still want to sing it. Some say yes. Without pulling the disc, I believe it is... Sun Fly 51 |
