Doubtful they were ever legit, but I do not think they still produce anyway. Probably reincarnated to something else like Fast Trax or some other iffy company. |

It seems tracks only become "iffy", from an operator's standpoint, when someone is allowed to "regulate" the industry. Is that what u folks want to see happen, and in many ways, is it already happening?!?!? And of course I use the word "industry" loosely since it seems it is made up of mostly individual contractors... |

It seems that it would be a precedent-setting level of regulation in a relatively unimportant area, one that would certainly have Ronald Reagan turning over in his grave... |

In reply to the OP, Karaoke Kurrents is made by SuperCore, who have been around quite awhile. They also make All Country Hits. The track quality is what I call high medium. They may not match CB for country, MM for Doo-Wop, or DK or Zoom for pop, but are way above Stellar's generic karaoke. They used to mfr. here, but I believe they have moved production to the Asian area. As for legitimacy, my answer is that they are as "legit" as any other mfr- no more or less- simply because virtually all mfrs. have run into licensing problems at one time or another. On the plus side, I don't remember seeing any suits against SuperCore, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. I am quite comfortable using SuperCore, KJ Tools ( a label that SuperCore bought out), Karaoke Kurrents, and All Country Hits. If you are PC based, I would be fairly certain that they are not interested in bothering their customers as some others do. A CAVEAT: These labels have become some of the most counterfeited out there, simply because they still produce new hits with good quality. Be VERY CAREFUL when buying them. I have seen at least 4 different counterfeit label styles. |

I would be more inclined to believe a company licenses if they didn't change their name every couple years and actually had a way to contact them printed on the label somwhere. The majors may have had licensing issues at one time or another, but at least you could contact them. |

At this point, I don't believe that ANY karaoke producer has full licensing for all of their tracks- not one. That being said, if one wants to host a karaoke show, one buys the music and hopes for the best. As an ODB host, the worst thing that could happen to me is a Cease & Desist from a publisher- assuming they wish to get involved. If that happens, the game is over for all of us anyway. |
