So after about ten years of looking, (altho admittedly not as hard as i could have) i finally found a retail outlet that had an Original Footage DVD with the song version i wanted. Cotton Fields by the Beach Boys;.
They wanted around $15 dollars for the disc. Fine, so i type in my shipping info and the computerized checkout will only allow me to select UPS because I live in canada. They wanted $26 to ship the disc.
I called ace karaoke to complain, and after trying to order directly so that they could use an alternate shipping method after almost an hour, they finally confirmed that UPS is the only method.
so after a lot of debate, i finally decided that i would spend the money cause i really wanted this disc. So two weeks later, my disc arrives and its marked.. COD.. I had to give the driver a check for ANOTHER $19 dollars to accept delivery of the stupid package.
needless to say i will NEVER buy anything from Ace Karaoke EVER again

you could have done this and got your money back:
i would have refused the package.
then called ace karaoke and ask for a refund. if they don't work with you then tell them you calling your credit card company and requesting a "chargeback" if they don't issue the refund.
then called the credit card company and ask for a "chargeback", make sure you say "chargeback" and then explain the entire senario with your order.
you would have got your money back......

I'm a little bit lost here....
$15 for the disc $26 for UPS Delivery to Canada.
Total cost = $41.
You decided that in spite of all the frustration, you agreed to purchase the disc.
Here is where I am now lost. Did you give them a CC number to process the order? If so, then what was the COD charge of $19 upon receipt of the disc?
And this is where your story ended.
What happened next? What did you do after paying the extra $19? Did you follow up and call Ace Karaoke to complain and request a refund of that extra $19 charge? Did you contact your Bank and ask them to put a STOP PAYMENT on that $19 check that you just gave to the UPS delivery person, or would it have cost you more than the $19 for that check to do so?

I would've just found someone friendly here to buy it and ship it to you.

I live within 2 miles of an Ace Karaoke Store. Awesome selections btw.
Additionally, as a Premium Member you would have received a discount on the item.
I'm not certain why there would have been a $26 charge for delivery even to Canada for a single disc. They could used a bubble wrapped envelope and shipped it for under $5?
Not certain what was going on there. There has to be more to the story...

shipping charges are one of the biggest rip offs out there. Those late night commercials always offer the secong item free of charge....just pay separate shipping and handling charges which end up being more than the cost of the item.

I ship to Canada regularly, and it costs about $4 for USPS First Class international. Priority is around $6-7. UPS international is ridiculous ($17-30 normally), but the reason they only use UPS is because USPS does not track internationally, which is a must especially when shipping to Canada. My rate of "non-delivery" claims for items going to Canada was absurd. Literally 50% or more of everything I shipped on ebay / Amazon got "lost" (using USPS). After I started using UPS only, I had 1 case opened over the coarse of a year on non-delivery, which turned up in customs. So, just too many people abusing the whole system. Abusing the postal service's lack of tracking capability, harsh ebay/Amazon seller policies , and credit card charge back policies. That is why a company the size of Ace will only ship UPS international with tracking...the C.O.D however, makes no sense whatsoever if you paid them prior to shipment.
I am definitely not taking up for them, just giving a perspective form an internet sellers point of view. I also refuse to deal with them, after many years of selling their hardware at my store.

Well, I was able to buy a large collection of disks @ $1.00 each during a "Grand Opening" occasion..
That being said, I would go back anytime.. Nice folks, good prices..
I'm not sure what happened, but the credit card company should settle it..

I'm assuming the $19 was import duties, altho there shouldn't have been any. I also assumed that the ridiculous charge for shipping was because it included any import duties.
I used paypal to pay for everything. I SHOULD have just sent the disc back, but i let emtion get in the way of making a rational descision.
its too late to do anything about it now. I'm just going to chalk it all up to one of those expensive life lessons.
Just mostly wanted to vent, and I did that.. Thanks for listening everyone
