I admit that I'm kind of lost on this one. Chartbuster was considered a premium brand, especially in the country genre. I haven't been on e-bay for awhile, so I went music searching just for the heck of it, and found CB discounted all over the place to ridiculously low pricing. Examples from one seller: 500 discs for $700 102 discs for $250 Both NEW DISCS From another: 100 discs for $175 15 discs for $59 Also new, and offering credit toward Digitrax. One would figure they might go UP a little after CB closed, not discounted into the crap bin. Are these being sold this way to get them off the market quickly, or is there some other reason. I'm also seeing a HUGE increase in the availability of USED Sound Choice discs, but I think I can figure that one out... Any thoughts on the CB pricing? |

...I've seen those "In The Neighborhood" type prices in the Chartbuster Section of Ebay and kind of have to wonder if they're originals or if someone is mass producing them. Found the sellers are claiming "over-runs/leftovers direct from Chartbusters" and or "These are in paper sleeves because Chartbuster didn't have the time or financial resources to buy jewel cases to put them in before shutting their doors" But they are super cheap. Maybe just the leftovers? But one sellers seems to always be offering the same listing week after week AND some Chartbuster Essentials Vol. 1-6 in SCDG Format with them which I thought was odd! ...However, on the flip side, I did receive some discs directly from Chartbuster, while they were in business, that did come in paper sleeves and were on CD-R discs but had artwork on the label side. So who really knows? Remember it's a matter of trust, right? |

If you look at the seller's location most of them are from Seymour, TN. This looks like they might have been Chartbuster employees at one time maybe got these discs as a severance package knowing that they could sell them on EBay. I'm sure that they had thousands of discs that were done and ready to be sold and when they saw the writing on the wall started giving them away in bunches to loyal employees that would soon be out of a job. All this of course is just in my opinion and I have no actual proof, but it sure looks that way. |

johnny reverb wrote:  .....call me lazy, but to bootleg stuff at such a low price, would be ridiculous...... ...I hear ya Johnny, but it seems like, from past experiences, every time a Major Brand goes out of business, there seems to be an endless "Brand New" supply of discs floating around for years after. Plus, this one seller was selling the SCDGs (which is a whole other topic) along with the individual cdgs. Just made me wonder a little. ...If I remember correctly, I think JD mentioned how easy it was to duplicate cdgs to look like originals at a very low cost. Not that I've purchased any, don't need 'em, but I hope these are originals that are being sold! |

I purchased 1500 chartbuster disks at the fire sale when they were closing. Mostly for future expansion and party systems but some to add in missing songs. They came mostly on 100 and 200 disk spools with no sleeves or loose with paper sleeves only. |

I'm sure that the fact that CB recently closed is playing a major role in the discounts. With that being said, I'll also bet that part of the reason why disks are so cheap is because the market price is much lower than it was just a couple years ago thanks to the market saturation caused by CB and the availability of material via "cloud"/s. |

If those discs are original CB production, I honestly don't care about the whys and wherefores. Not my problem. |

I'm replacing CB tracks with better versions almost weekly. Their country was OK but most of the other is really sub par when I compare it to the original and then listen to some of the various versions out there. I'll pass strictly on quality alone. |
