Received a call today from Digitrax. Seems the price of the pro version has already been dropped from the $199/month to $99 per month. Now, do not confuse this with the "intro price" I discussed in another thread where this was the price for the first year if you acted now, I was assured this is THE price and it will not go up. This does cover the entire library they offer, all of the new releases that come out and the music that was not released by CB during the transition phase from CB to Digitrax. I am expecting an email to describe everything in detail a bit better but it seems it is getting more attractive to the start up guy already

very interesting! Looks like DT has reached the point of crunch time. Cut closer to the bone, turn things around to make more significant profits.

That is STILL too much for music you don't get to keep. That is still $1,200 a year, for something that you don't get to keep. No thanks. If I am going to pay $1,200 a year for music I want that music to stay with me, not go away because I didn't pay for a month.

I just cannot imagine that a KJ with a decent collection of legal music would use DT. My budget for new karaoke music is $35 per month. I actually spend half that though because I now download my music, one track at a time. So, it isn't even worth it for the new music.

Tricerasoft's holiday deal of 25 credits for $35 is pretty good.

That is not their target.

$35? Man i'm lucky if I get out with less than $200 per month for new/requested music.

I'm extremely glad to be doing "Oldies" shows because I buy "zero" new music. If they want to sing something more current they buy it themselves. My show, for the most part, requires a reservation to get a seat in a 110 seat pub. So the lack of current music is not always a deterrent to a successful show.

but you are buying complete discs.......that's $15-$20 for one or two songs. buying one off downloads makes it $2.00 a song. if you are spending $200.00 a month on custom discs or just buying discs maybe you COULD benefit from the cloud,

... "I was assured this is THE price and it will not go up"...Now, this is not a knock at simpmech but I doubt I could take anyone's word on any "set price" on anything unless it was in a written agreement.

...On the flip side, if I were starting out at ground zero (brand new or returning to the KJ Hosting Scene with no library or very little), I would definitely take a long hard look at the $99.00 per month for the cloud based off what the library consist of and the terms of the agreement. It would also depend on how much I could or would want to make per week/per month vs. the expense of something that I do not have in my possession (physical media) to use at any time or resale in the future, if I chose to. Then again, how long will the songs be available in the cloud and or how long will the cloud be around? What if the sky clears and there is no cloud? SOL?

...However, as an established KJ with a solid library collection, I'm not exactly fond of seeing the price drop for the cloud. The good part, it will make it easier for those that need it or want it. I do feel this will definitely pull down the resale value of my collection but I can't complain about some of the prices that I've paid for my library these last three years. Now, while I was building my library in the 90's, that was a whole different subject when it came to prices, it cost a lot more, most of the time!

...Again, not poking at simpmech, just a response/opinion.

Only $50 goes toward the PHM monthly, otherwise the rest is individual tracks.
The cloud still would have no benefit for me, I have more than they offer. Only thing I MIGHT be interested in provided you didn't have to subscribe is the new music updates.

You have to remember, Lonnie works 6 nights a week, and has a huge show. He ALWAYS needs new music. If you are only a weekend warrior, or do this for a second income, at small places you won't need so much new music.

That STILL sounds like a lot of money to put towards new music imo! Most NEWly released music isnt very good nowadays and unless you live in a HUGE metropolitan area (think NY or LA), then i would think singers can't be that desperate to sing all the songs that were released yesterday just to show off.

Most of the shows here with thousands upon thosand of tourists arriving daily STILL request mostly songs that are 2-30 years old! All the recent stuff rarely gets used, sans Gangnam Style, lol! I just order song by song requests. Seems to be a more sound financial investment.

That is what I have been doing, too.
I bought a few sets to have something to start with, and now I but only the songs I need. It's cheaper and I don't have to carry a massive inventory of crap I will never use.

Most of the 'new' stuff I get is still from the 70's-2000's. The only 'today' hits I get are the PHM monthlies and any requests I may get for something new which is rare but does happen. I admit the PHM discs are pretty much a waste of money.

Since I already own most (if not all) sc & cb 12k song library I’m still on PHM subscription at $498.00 a year, so that’s $41.50 a month. I also have a clipboard song wish list for my singers - download expense is around $60-70 a mo. = total of approx $111.50.

By December I am dropping phm. Their song selections are not being sung anymore, whereas my downloaded songs get a lot of play. No more subs renewal. I’ll just ask my singers what they want. I only have 2 shows a week, btw.

I was curious about which tracks are available. I couldn't get the "Search" available tracks to work for me. I emailed them looking for a list, and they responded very quickly. There is no list of songs available. So, there's no way of knowing what tracks are even on the cloud.

So, for those of you who have signed up - did you do so blindly?

UPDATE: I notified them that the Search Available Tracks feature wasn't working. I give them A's for their timely responses, but I have to wonder if they even investigated before they emailed me back with "proper instructions" for searching the available tracks. I tried 2 computers and 3 different browsers, it won't even take my search criteria.

That is kind of strange. Why don't they have a list of songs? What KJ wants to go search for songs, one-by-one to compare tracks?

UDPATE2: Could this problem be exclusive to me and my 2 computers, cell phone and 3 browsers? I kind of doubt it, but I have to ask, because now I am being to told I should to delete my cookies.

Oh well, I guess I'm over the Cloud.

Will someone please go to http://www.karaokecloud.com/home/viewtracks and tell me if you can search tracks? Thanks

Troy: I tried it without logging in and it wouldn't let me. Then I logged in and the search worked with Firefox and IE.

I searched for something that should have not been there and the songs showed up.

I searched for Garth Brooks and over a dozen songs showed up. I thought Garth pulled all licensing. Some even showed up as downloads. Makes ya wanna go HMMMMMMM???????
