The best game that draws in the biggest and best crowds is the game of Killer sound, fair rotation,great personality and K.I.S.S. Games and contests are not the answers. They might work as a quick fix but not long term.... |

One place I go to has contests as part of their show. It's expected, and well received. I guess if it's part of the routine, it's cool. My friends and I look at it as just another rotation. You may as well join if you plan on singing in a block of time. You may even win something!

At each show, at the beginning of the 2nd rotation, we ask one multiple choice music trivia question (A, B or C). We have trivia slips specifically designed for the contest. Singers have the duration of the next song to submit their answer. We discard the slips with the wrong answer. After the one song duration, we randomly select a winner form the slips with the correct answer. The winner gets to sing an extra song immediately following their current song in the 2nd rotation. The only people allowed to particpiate are singers already established in the rotation. The "trivia winning song" is not transferrable to another singer, but we do allow the winner to invite other singers on stage to assist without without it affecting the other singer's slot. Goes over real well at out show. As for karokae contests. We won't do them. Even if asked by the establishment. Rock n Roland www.rcmkaraoke.com |
