I wanted to share a new program with you -- we have upgraded Karaoke Sound Tools to version 2, adding Merge and Clip functions.

Merge allows to combine several songs into one, so now it is possible to create a karaoke medley with a single click of a button. While merging it also removes dead air between songs.

Clip makes it possible to shorten CD+G songs by removing dead air at the beginng and at the end of the song. It also allows to remove defined number of seconds from the beginning of the song (it can be used to remove logo or title image).

So if you are using a hosting program that does not remove silence, you may use Karaoke Sound Tools 2 to process your songs and remove silence in files.

More information and trial version are available at http://www.powerkaraoke.com/src/prod_karaokesoundtools.php.

I think you have a winner with product. I don't know how you get around the removal of instruction and timing packets without affecting color or rendering. My wife and I used to do shows and I had to manually clip the songs (using CDGFix Super) in order to keep the shows run smoothly with minimal dead air.

I have not tried the demo yet, but if it works, you have a winner in my book. I use Karma for my shows and you can trim silence easily. As for using it to intentionally remove a logo seems a little scary, but if it just happens to get removed while removing silence, then so be it. My job is to run an efficient show, not to advertise for a manufacturer. I can burn a compilation cd with silence removed to take to other KJ shows.

I will give it a test run right now.

I might be a little sarcastic with this but,

WOW a program that will allow SC and others to SUE us for deleting their Trademark's and changing their materials.

While I applaud Power Karaoke for this program just how long will it be before those entities come after someone that has clipped their materials.

Harrington has said somewhere here that it could be done if one was to remove SC's Logo's from the song.

I tried the demo (60 seconds convert time) and it clipped/trimmed/cropped the beginning of the 3 songs I tried quite nicely. It depends on the songs as to whether or not the logo is removed. However if you need a cdg disc with the silence removed this would definately do the job much more easily than any other method I have ever tried.

I downloaded the trial version and tried out the medley creator function. It gives you about 1 minute of each song. It worked but if the song has a long intro, you don't get the singing parts. I guess you have to shorten the track by sectors first to find the part of the song that you actually want. I don't think I'd spend 50 bucks for what it did.

Actually you may use clip for that -- give it the time you would like the song to start (ie. when the lyrics start) and it will cut out the beginning, starting the music with fade in.

I enjoy singing medleys at karaoke but I sometimes get dirty looks from people that think I'm singing multiple songs in a row. I've made a few from tracks purchased from Karaokeversion.com and they come out well but I think I might get carried away with myself if I started using that program. I'd start making medleys with 12 songs in them. LOL
