...It's driving me nuts today and it's interfering with the other voices in my head...

:argue: .... First voice, "Shut up, Dude!" Second voice, "That's not me!" Third voice, "It's me, Tinnitus and I'm taking over!"

...OMG, go away!...Nobody to blame but myself...

I've had moderate to severe tinnitus for over 40 years... One of the by-products of a navy and then a fire service that didn't know, or didn't care, about proper hearing protection.

After conducting a lot of research over the years, I've come to the conclusion there's no cure, nor is there any truly effective audio-blanking device available yet. There have been some supposedly promising results in experimental surgery, but it's much too soon to pin our hopes there.

So... I've learned to compensate... and live with it.

You have to get used to it. You have to try to ignore it. It's probably never going to go away. I've had it for 30 years or so...started in one ear, then after a few years in the other. Made me a little nuts at first, but after a while you realise....you've just got to get used to it.....good luck
ps....they advertise a natural product, that they say helps....do a search for cure for ringing in the ear, or help for ringing in the ear.....product should come up.....I've never tried it, and can't remember what it's called......

If it's any comfort the US Navy had begun a hearing conservation program when I served in the 1980s for anyone who worked on the flight deck. I don't know whether they offered anything similar for people in the engineering spaces but they definitely should. I don't suffer from any tinnitis - yet. Crossing my fingers and keeping an eye on my sound levels.

...Mine started around 2 years ago. I've never worn any ear protection (ear plugs ... which is completely my own fault). Guess I've probably been pushing it for years and perhaps my age is beginning to be a factor. I actually can still hear really well for the most part just the high hissing noise (on certain days it can be rather painful). Some days are worse than others or maybe I just don't pay it as much as attention, a day to day thang!
...Although today was a tough one for me!

I’m only experiencing slight, moderate to mild tinnitus. It’s mostly perception of sound in my ears even there are no external source present. I hear buzz, ocean waves, telephone ringing, etc, subtle, not loud, sometimes intermittent, & at times constant. Noise levels are still bearable. No pain, more like bothersome. I had it for years I got so used to it. I have yet to experience vertigo, hope not –knock on wood. I play my karaoke music loud when I host, funny thing is it doesn’t exacerbate the condition, I don’t even hear any ringing. All I hear is good music even from the not so good singers.

I got it from my Navy days also, onboard guided missile destroyer as ammo loader. Then on an aircraft carrier – hazardous noise levels from flight ops & jet engines, ear plugs aren’t mandatory below decks. Go figure.

I agree with Earl. Just accept the fact that there is no proven effective treatment for tinnitus.
