So I dropped by the sc site to search their custom disks and there have been some big changes that I haven't noticed anyone else mention on the site. 1) There is no mention AT ALL of the gem series, the banner ad on the front page has been replaced with a bunch of other ads.
2) They now apparently have some affiliation with all star karaoke, as they sell them on their site and you can purchase direct AS downloads.
Sorry if this is old news but I feel like this is all different from just a couple weeks ago when I last accessed the site.
EDIT: on second look the gem is still on there. Swear it wasn't the first time I looked, but still begs the question if they are selling and pushing AS will they ever actually do their own releases?

I'm sure they're just in a temporary arrangement with All Star Karaoke. What they offer with ASK is new music - which SC does not have. Make a lot of business sense - they're not going to make a lot of money, but they will make some. And maybe if SC ever gets going on new music (which I personally don't expect), they'll end that arrangement with ASK.

The All Star tracks aren't bad musically but their spelling and lyrics are the worst I've ever seen. On their latest disc, they spelled flame as fame numerous times and on one track they flip flopped a couple of words in one line. Their CD+G person must be dislexic and they need someone to check their tracks out before they press them and sell them. There just shouldn't be that many mistakes in a three minute song.

Have you attempted to contact AS and tell them about the lyrical mistakes? I'm sure that if they were made aware of it, they could correct the errors, and send out new downloads (free of charge) to those who ordered the bad track/s in question. I know I did that (once) with SBI on a track that I ordered. They made the corrections to the track and issued me a credit (which I used to order the same (new) track anyway.

I sent them an e-mail about it a month ago and they responded by saying that they would do better in the future. The person doing their graphics must be someone who didn't grow up in the states or someone who did very poorly in school. As long as it is their name on the title screen instead of mine; I'm not going to worry about it any longer. I tried to point out to them how badly their tracks were and they don't seem to care. If it's a song that I really want to sing, I'll use their musical track and re do the lyrics for myself. I'm sure that they could "fix" it much quicker than I can re-make it for myself but by the time they would get around to it and send it to me; I can do it myself. It's obvious that they don't really care that much about the quality of their products. All they would have to do was have someone proof read the songs before they sent them to be pressed onto discs. When you have a song called Stop Drop and Roll; you should know that FLAME should be the word being used and not Fame. It's about someone getting so HOT that they could spontaneously ignite which could cause a Flame and not Fame. I noticed the errors on t he first run through after I synced the original song to the karaoke graphics.

I wasn’t born here in the States either. I didn’t grow up here, but I sure know how to spell English words correctly. F-a-y-m-e - fayme! By the way, though the Chinese also interchange the r/l as well, it’s the Japanese who are more prone to mispronounce the R’s & L’s because the Japanese ranguage, I mean language does not have a specific syllable for R or L. AStar can hire me as a proofreader. Spell elephant: L-E-P...
