Let's talk about the EMPs that the preppers are afraid of: You know, Electro-magnetic pulses that will supposedly end modern life. First of all, a simple Faraday box will protect your digital equipment from EMPs. If you don't know what that is, either look it up or send me a PM and I will explain how to build one. Now the luddite part: While EMPs will definitely do a number on unprotected modern digital electronics, they would have virtually no effect on pre 1980s analogue electronics. Discrete components would be un-affected. This is why there are 4 government "doomsday" planes built with this style od electronics. Also, if you still have any cell phones as shown in my avatar, hold on to them- and they are on those planes too. They still work, though currently blocked by the phone companies- and will do so when the current toy phones fail. Got an old crystal CB or ham radio? A biggie- they will let you communicate when all else fails. Your pull-start generator will work, though the big electric starts won't. Nothing stops solar energy from charging a battery, though the DC-AC conversion may be a problem. Same with windmills, waterwheels, etc... Your car? The older cars WILL work, though anything with electronic ignition won't. Just stuff to think about..... |

Yeah I don't remember a karaoke player prior to 1980. Not worried, if it happens - it's going to happen to ALL of us! |

@ Johnny... I just checked my latest calendar... and to my consternation, found there's nothing between August and September. Yes Sir... It went directly from August 31 to September 1, with nothing in between. Could it be perhaps your calculations are indeed, a bit "off", or should I take this calendar back to Wal-Mart and get my money back? |

No, it's correct for the Canadian calendar..... ps....(just in case) between... preposition 1. in the space separating (two points, objects, etc.): between New York and Chicago. 2. intermediate to, in time, quantity, or degree: between twelve and one o'clock; between 50 and 60 apples; between pink and red. 3. linking; connecting: air service between cities. 4. in portions for each of (two people): splitting the profits between them. 5. among: sharing the responsibilities between the five of us. |
