The bad news: I will almost certainly be cancelled tomorrow night, though I have done blizzard shows before.

The Good news: I'll have plenty of energy for shoveling Saturday morning :D

The Question: How many of you will be affected, and what precautions have you taken? Generators? Fuel? Food? Standard battery/flashlight/candle stuff? Digital over the air TV boxes for older sets? Plug-in non-electronic landline phones? Nothing, and just deal with it as it comes?

Also, for those who dealt with Sandy, have you changed the way you handle things since?

Given the predicted snowfall, I expect cancelled work and trapped home all weekend. As far as precautions, does a backup internet connection and plans to be the fireplace's new best friend count?

I hope everyone is able to stay safe and warm.

Cleveland, Ohio. So if it is anything like the effects we felt during Sandy storm, then we too shall be in for some issues.

We live in West Little Italy. Being Italian and your entire family living on the same street. Lucky enough to eat here at home, walk 20ft, eat at my brothers, walk another 30ft, go to my sisters, another 35ft, my other brother, two more houses down my moms, across from that, my brothers house. I still can't believe I am not fat with all that access to multiple dinners in one night! :-)

MADPROAUDIO ~ DISABLED VETERAN ~ FAMILY OWNED COMPANY

To those that are in harms way. PLEASE be sure to work up a gradual sweat in your house doing easy exercising and stretching before ever going out to shovel snow. Take care, god bless.

Here in Hollywierd, we expect a fine mist in the early hours tonight.

Just enough to cause the tourists to crash the rental cars.

Yup, same for me. I have 4WD and new snow tires...I could make it to the gig OK, but I would just be playing for the five people that live upstairs and we would close early anyway. :(

I was canceled last night. Officially, we had 14.8" of snow Thurs-Fri.

That's Muskegon, MI btw

Being Canadian, we carry on as usual. The only way we close down is loss of power or the city orders a closure. That has happened once in the last 50 years plus. What's some white stuff between friends.

What I get tired of is that in the last 4-5 years around here we have had more forecasts about disastrous storms (rain or snow) that never materializes. One of these days something will come and we will ignore it because of too many "The sky is falling" forecasts.

It's usually yellow the next day.

JD, it's not the tourists I'm afraid of. They're used to it and are visiting here hoping to get away from that nonsense. It's the locals who hardly ever see weather that I'm afraid of! :fright: I grew up outside of Philly (been there, shoveled that!). LMAO

"It's usually yellow the next day."

It depends on how much you had to drink the night before. LOL

JD, stay safe with that maniacal ex-LAPD cop roaming around. If they're lucky, he offed himself but I doubt it.

That ch!t is out of control.....

The LAPD shot up a 71 year old lady delivering newspapers..

Her truck was a Toyota, not a Nissan, and her truck was blue, not grey, and she is a little old lady, not a huge black man.

Someone is gonna get killed..

Not that it justifies what he's doing, but do you think they'll look into what he claims set him off?

Funny that you should mention that, Timberlea. I am not a writer/complainer, but I have contacted both commercial weather channels in my area AND a newspaper. This is a HUGE peeve of mine, because I believe that people have actually lost their lives and property simply because at this point "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" has simply done it too often.

-OR-

Their dire predictions are believed, and businesses lose thousands of dollars or more in hopes of erring toward caution.

The weather channels use any event to push advertising time, and do so (in my opinion) by over-dramatizing.

Now, last night we didn't get anywhere near the weather that THEY were predicting- but DID get pretty much spot on what the NOAA maps showed.

Afterward they had the nerve to say " Whull...ya know, this storm wasn't really meant for NJ anyway....more for CT and RI..."
Really? AFTER the fact? Freakin' weather weenies....

SNOWBLOWER? You lucky devil. I do have an electric snow shovel / thrower that's good for about 3", and useless for anything above. I would have had to clean up the whole area 4 or 5 times last night if I used it. Shoveled twice.

I've been thinking of getting a monster like yours, but it usually only comes to mind during and after a big snowstorm... :bawling:
