Post subject:  The Track That's Almost Never There- WTH??

I have had The Crystal's "Da Doo Ron Ron" in my book forever, however, no one has ever put in a request for it.

Until last night.

Now, my book shows something like 5 versions of it, so no problem- right? Wrong.

It shows as tracks 2 and 10 ( w/vocals) on SC2073. Those tracks are actually "Palisades Park"

It shows as track 15 on MMDWC04. Nope, it's another song. The same thing happened with 2 other brands.

I got lucky and found MM6361 where it actually WAS track 9.

I told a friend about it and he said the same thing about the same song on Top Tunes.

5 different brands with the same problem/same song.

Now, I use KJ Pro for my books, and am fully aware that this and ALL databases have their errors. However, the same song on 5 different brands leads me to believe something else is going on.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks in advance.....

It is accurate for my SC2073-02. Just dropped the disc in and track 2 is The Crystal's Da Doo Ron Ron

It is also accurate for these other versions I have -

PI0005A-06 (Pioneer LD)
SC10095-07 (SC GEM Series)
SC7513-06

Don't know about the others, but it is on Disc 4 track 15 on my MM DoWop set.

Mine is the same as Karen B's. Maybe it was the recent solar shower?

But thanks for the idea. Have never done that one but it sounds like a good rouser to start the show. Think I'll bring the Amy Winehouse wig out of mourning and go for it. But how do those last yeah, yeah yeahs go?

My Pioneer is listed correctly, however my DK (original 87) disc shows in my database as Da Do Ron Ron, but the actual track is I Met Him On A Sunday (Ronde Ronde) - totally different song. However, not having the disc at home, I can't say for certain that it was added incorrectly in the songbook maker and that was what it defaulted to when I imported it.

I checked KJ Pro and there is also a disc labeled SC2073R. They probably lost the licensing for that particular song, if they ever had it, and re-issued the disc with Palisades Park in it's place. Not a Big Mystery.

That would be my guess - the disc he has is a reissue, just like the SC8223 that originally had Take Me Home Tonight - to be released later 8223R with Separate Ways in it's place. Just odd that he found that problem on several discs different manus with that same song.

That sounds about right, Bruce. Maybe the others had the same licensing problem with the song and re-issued as well.

Karen, I just checked the MMDWC04 disc, and you are correct. On THAT one, the book listed correctly, and the track IS correct. However, the track listing on the LABEL is wrong- which leads me to suspect the disc itself may be a fake. I bought it to replace one disc out of the original set. If it wasn't for the labeling error, there would be no absolutely no discernable difference in labels, codes, sound, or swipes- a quality fake, if it is one. Might just be a factory typo too....
