Sometimes, when compiling a CDG file in KBS I find the lines of a song are really long and I feel I need to split them. But now and then it's a marginal decision and I think another font might enable me to squeeze the line in to the existing space rather than breaking it. I don't want anything arty-farty, the singer must be able to read the lyrics easily. I know that Times New Roman and Aerial are popular for their legibility. But are there other fonts that are almost as legible whilst being slightly more compressed? I did find one I liked some time ago but I forget what it was and which song I used it on. What fonts do others use? |

I'm a writer by trade in my day job (financial services marketing and operational copy), and the current AP standard font for media/digital formats is Calibri. They have studies that show that Calibri is the easiest to read in digital format, followed by Arial and Cambria. I haven't used Times New Roman for anything in several years. It has been mostly phased out as a standard in professional writing. |

What I do in that situation is use the same font but lower the point number for that one line of the song. Chartbuster used to do it that way as well. If you watch closely on certain songs the font on one line would be smaller than all of the other lines on the page. |

I tried Calibri bold size 9 for my karaoke books – I like it! I’ve used Arial & Arrus Blk bt before. Calibri is easier to read & slightly darker compared to my current font Rockwell. Also, line spacing, some longer song titles now fits in one space. Good timing as I was ready to get my books printed tonight! Thanks again.
