Post subject:  The Rarest Disk?

I am doing a project for a local bar - basically we put our Pioneer laser disks together so we could have all of the disks converted with no gaps, skippers, etc.

Anyway, one of the LASER disks she needed me to convert is this one. She said "Do you know the Eagles Sound Choice disk? This is rarer than that disk - you probably couldn't buy this disk anywhere".

So, I snapped a pic for you guys to see it. Don't know if it's true, but I'm sure I'll find out.

It was one of the first discs that contained Eagles songs on it in around 93-94. I have it. The music on it is so so, step up from Backstage on some, the music that you can replace all the songs on them with other brands are far better sounding. I still have mine in the disc rack, however I don't think I actually have the need for it anymore as I have all the songs replaced with better versions. It was very short lived production.

For laser disks, it's gotta be pretty rare. Is there any other laser disks with The Eagles on it?

On laserdisc, none that i'm aware of - not saying there aren't any, I just never looked that hard after finding this one. This was out before the SC, Backstage, Standing Ovation and others had their Eagles disc out. I went strictly cdg in late 94 (buying that is, still use them).

hey, I remember that disc, got one too 'till I sold all. Agree with Lon, content left a lot to be desired in terms of sound quality. Can’t remember the manu, I’m positive it’s not pioneer. Pioneer lasers pkl & wkl were my first format when I started hosting - considered high end lasers due to its video production content thus the price of $130-150 during their heyday, compared to other so-so brands such as bmb nld (nikkodo) sav series, discovision, megastar, superstar, joysound, u-best, etc. Anyway -----

yes we had that LD until about 6 years ago when we sold it to a collector for $400 the quality left a lot to be desired. It is not a pioneer disc.

Good luck with the conversion it took Athena months and a bunch of grey hairs.

Thanks. I've already done most of them though (in like 2011). I think I had mine done before Athena. But, my supply was limited. If I had a skip, I was screwed. But now, I have accumulated a lot more, plus the lady at the bar has all the gaps I need (she is selling me those disks - her bar is the longest running karaoke show in town. She has her own equipment and they do it 6 days a week. She has accumulated several hundred Pioneers that I hope to purchase from her, most of which are flawed.)

Funny thing: she had her own Dazzle (Pinnacle DVD Recorder). I asked her - how did you know about the Dazzle. She said she read it somewhere online. I told her the Dazzle was my suggested tool to use and I think I was the first one to mention online the usefulness of that particular product in converting LD's (I could be wrong...)

Anyway, I am running 3 of them now - to get the last of them done.

It's gotta be extra rare and valuable because it's signed by DJ's Pub!

I just check a recent purchase and found an unknown manufacturer LD of Eagles along with a John Denver disc. These are good quality but strange. On side is original footage (think music videos) and the other has same video with no lead vocal and lyrics on screen. I do not remember ever seeing a manufacturer called "Original Footage" however that is the closest thing to a manu I can find on the discs. These we purchased from a retired military person who bought over 200 LD's in Korea when stationed there. There are brands I have never seen but the quality is exceptional

Original Footage was another short lived multiplex laserdisc line. The cool thing about them is the 'vocal guide' was the actual song with the original band video playing, however, when you went into karaoke mode, it was clearly reproduced music, and not done very well at that.

Rare is somewhat relative. For instance, I would pay good money for some of the KaraokeMaker brand discs. They are much more rare in terms of ever popping up on eBay or even in a bulk buy of discs.

SC8125 pops up on eBay about every 2-3 months and about 1 in 4 are sealed.

I think maybe the manufacturer of this disk is possibly "Diamond"?? - I keep seeing that word pop up on the tracks.

Chris, you got that right. Just try and find a Trooper or Tragically Hip disc out there.

Lon, yeah but try to find it now. The two discs I mentioned cannot be found but the rest of the aeries as far as I know are still available, I think.

Sold the Original Footage LD- and I think that even Backstage did a better job- for $275 5 years ago. Go figure.....

How about the JVC CDGs? I never see them up for auction on e-bay or in CraigsList... and there were quite a few in that series.

Complete and utter midi garbage. They sound like they were played on a 1980's Casio toy keyboard.
