New Kid on the Block!

North American Karaoke producers have been dropping like flies, and rampant karaoke music piracy is making it difficult to find quality licensed music producers. We are proud to introduce a disc producer to North America, Digitop LTD. which produces the "Mr Entertainer" Karaoke brand. That spells over 174 NEW discs to our market. Cheers, Len Montford

Interesting...so, perhaps some of you folks who are more "in the know" can input on this:

1) This being a European label, were they part of the bulk sales embargo, if you will, before now? If so, wonder what has changed to allow that...

2) I cross checked the disc listing with all of their available offerings, and it appears they are 100% intact with all of their past disc configurations. Does that mean they were able to achieve a 100% rate of approval by US/North American publishers? That would be a statistically impossible feat, in the view of many in this forum...

And on the Selectatrack site that for some reason only I can access, it says across the top, "In Association With Digitop."

I personally will be staying far away as it appears they are importing in violation of the resale embargo.

Right just because it says 'North America' doesn't mean it's legal in US either.

I really am starting to HATE our licensing laws and restrictions.

The bulk of what I have tried to sort through in this forum is more of the restriction side, not the law side...

I'm very comfortable with SyberSound for newer releases. Nice quality at a decent price. Yup there's a delay, but in my area the requests for the newer songs seem to match SS's output time anyway...

I think that their past few releases have been exactly the popular songs that people have been singing--especially on their teens and tweens disc. But as you mention, they've been singing them for months before Party Tyme released them. It will be interesting to see if they fall to the same licensing problems the others are now having. Waiting extra months for current hits may become the new normal. Again...

Are you people serious or playing around?? Everything that I have sampled from Mr. Entertainer is crap. I would rather use SGB. At least they used a band. The ONLY song that sounded good so far is Alright Now, from Free. The rest has been garbage.

Every Mr Entertainer songs I have to date uses the exact same music as SBI, Sunfly, Abraxa and a couple other UK brands.

Which songs in question, I just did a random sample of 10 different songs between Mr Ent & SBI - all the same music.

I went through all 228 pages on Tricersoft's site, and sampled random songs. They were horrible. Everything from Macklemore to Maroon 5, to Rod Stewart, to the Rolling Stones, etc.

Post subject:  Re: "New" North American Karaoke Provider....

Couldn't tell on the Rolling Stones, SBI doesn't have a whole lot of them to compare to - didn't go through all the pages. The Macklemore is identical. I did hear the difference in some of the Rod Stewart songs - again not many, but did hear ''You Wear It Well' was identical to SBI. But those were also older releases before SBI started making (or supplying) the music too. Even Sunfly before SBI hooked up, many of their tracks were horrible.
The NEWER Mr E discs shouldn't have any of the issues you are hearing with the older titles - those will be the same as SBI - musically.

...and that's the key. While I am aware and have seen documentation that bulk sales for distribution are not allowed, I haven't seen or experienced the same for single disc end user/consumer sales..
