You could PM John Reynolds who is a member here and ask him. I can't remember which island he is on but he may have some leads. I used to know someone with a show there but he moved last year. I'll email him to see if he knows of any other good ones.
Edit: Am told, "Everyone goes to Sansei." Don't know if that is a good or a bad thing.
Wasn't sure if you were asking for places to go or just announcing you would be there to make us all feel cold and deprived.

Was hoping to find a place on Maui. Try to squeeze it in. RTH was fantastic! Can't visit Maui without spending a day on the Road.
Yes, be very jealous! We are staying with my daughter and son in law who live on the island!

Just do a YELP search for Karaoke Maui. Should get some responses.

bazingga wrote: Where are you staying Brian? The Shorebird Beach Broiler at the Outrigger Reef Hotel (2169 Kalia Road) has a pretty good crowd. The venue is right off of the beach. We'll be staying at the Hale Koa Hotel, a military resort caters to active, reserves & retired military. It’s a 5-star hotel but yet 50% to 70% less than what comparable Waikiki hotels charge. Can’t beat the military discounts from inside facilities: dining (2 full size restaurants), bars & lounge, base exchange shopping, gym, spa, beachfront, discounted tours, entertainment (comedy, magic, luau’s)etc. No more karaoke at the Warrior’s Lounge. Total bummer! ‘Been to Outrigger Reef 3yrs ago. Kj using cavs jb199, songs not in sync with graphics & always throw off my timing. Sound system is good. I’ll definitely check it out again, might be different kj or maybe he already upgraded to pc. I do agree it’s a very nice place, great ambiance & good acoustics considering huge bar lounge area. Thanks!

Aloha Rip! Check out Kobe Steakhouse in Lahaina 930pm-1230am if you're still on Maui on Friday or Saturday. You can bring your cdgs if you have them. Or if you're near Kapalua then definitely check out Senseis 10pm-1am Thurdays and Fridays. The Road To Hana still kills my neck -john

Hey Brian, I was on oahu a couple of months ago for 2 weeks to visit the inlaws that moved there last year and to use our timeshare before it expired. The BEST karaoke is at the North Shore at Turtle Bay on sundays we've found. The same couple hosts on tuesdays at Breakers in haleiwa (north shore also) then on thursdays some other place closeby to there. Cant remember their names but a nice couple in their 60's. They don't play discs. Are computer based. Lots of young locals. Went to waikiki and karaoke sucks there overall. Shorebird was okay i guess. being on the beach helped and we cooked our own steaks on the grill. Karaoke was a cavs system but sync on words were fine for my songs and my wife's. Didn't notice anything off, but the sound was terrible and no visible rotation. The host could sing well. Visited Senseis in the Hyatt (Marriott?) on friday. Nice couple. kinda dorky. Same 6 singers all night but the place was packed for half price sushi. Great food! Saturday went to Wailana Coffee house in waikiki. packed. cavs system, they also played my discs. It was okay. food not so good. Local mature singers but good! As i asked around, i was directed to the ONLY karaoke store on oahu "Walters Karaoke & Sea Salt Lamps". Very small. over priced. Picked up a couple of SC Spotlights for $22.95 each i didn't have. Turns out talking to Walter the owner, he bragged he supplies (rents) cavs 199 systems to several venues such as Shorebirds and Wailana coffee House and maintains them. Also some other place called Wang Chungs.(?) Asked about Hale Koa and they said they shut down the Warriors Lounge and all entertainment there last year. The host had apparently lost his home to forclosure and bailed off island. (?) Anyways, have FUN and report back YOUR experience. Visit Maui. Karaoke is better by far! -john

bazingga wrote: The KJ is still using the CAVS he need to learn how to host better. Takes a while between singers because no one knows who's next, no announcement until it's your turn. There's some pretty good singers and some singers who's there strictly for the fun, which by the way is how things should be! Like you said, the ambiance is nice for a big room plus you're right on Waikiki Beach ..... sipping Maitai's or Blue Hawaii in hand ..... ahhhhh the joys of life! Hope you have a fun time in Waikiki Aloha Bazingga! Wife, kids & I are returning to Oahu in december for Xmas Holidays for a week. Do you host karaoke anywhere? Looking forward to visiting Turtle Bay again. Awesome huge display tv and the sound was better than anywhere else! Waikiki was weak and a little overcrowded for us on the weekends and traffic wasn't kind to us. But The Hilton Hawaiian Village is where the family loves to stay and the luau is fantastic and the live music! -john

Karaoke is better by far! -john This is going to be a looong report, John! Winding down from our weeklong Hawaiian vacation, we're going back to the mainland tomorrow, Tue. Hale Koa Warrior’s Lounge is open & in full swing. We enjoyed the Magical Wizardry in Paradise dinner show Wed & High & Right Stand-up Comedy night Sat, still no karaoke. One of the classy hi-energy karaoke venues in Oahu was the Zanzabar Nightclub, located inside Waikiki Trade Center. We were there 3 yrs ago but currently closed for renovation. Waikiki Outrigger Shorebird Lounge, Kalia Road. Very nice roomy place, packed with tourists & locals. Different kj from 3 yrs ago. Cavs, sound just ok. I think he sensed I’m also a kj when I asked if he can play my cd or preferably sc version from his system. I kind of detected a slight rudeness when he snapped back: “Can’t do it! my cdg player quit working last week” he told me. “No sc or cb in my cavs”. There’s a lot more to this story (his unprofessionalism) but I’d rather not elaborate any further. No manu identifier in his book, all titles identified by 5 digit numbers, so when you pick a song you don’t know if its dk, mm, tt, phm, etc. Scenic view, flowers, mountains, oceans, etc. superimposed on all the songs played. Sometimes hard to see as graphics are being overshadowed by background pictures. No visual rotation of names. He just announced who’s going to be next. Sunset Beach Hotel, laid back lounge style karaoke, small nice room, 9 singers mostly hotel residents, again cavs, pair of small BMB nikkodo speakers. Kj doubles as the lobby cashier & seemed uninterested, no interaction. He takes your request slip but will not call you on your turn. He plays & pause the song title, if it’s your song you go up there, he plays it from the start. Needless to say, one song & we’re out of there. Wouldn’t recommend this one. Wang Chung’s Karaoke Bar, Koa Ave corner Kaiulani, cavs, jbl speakers. Our best time ever! Small room, I mean really small like 24 people capacity, but they’re the nicest, sociable super-friendly staff & patrons you’ll ever meet (emphasis on super-friendly!). After you finished singing everyone applauded, not fakes but heartfelt loud cheering & applause. The energy is infectious. Hole in the wall hidden in an alley but what a Waikiki gem! Yelp described it as gay-friendly bar. That distinction didn’t faze us a bit or bother us any, they’re actually crowd of locals & tourists from all walks of life. It’s the Cheers of Waikiki “where you wanna go where people are all the same, you wanna go where everybody knows your name”. Best night of karaoke my wife & I ever had! Loved it so much we went back the next night to enjoy once again their great hospitality. Amazingly, they all remembered both our names. We will leave Hawaii tomorrow feeling like we made lots of friends from this little bar with a great vibe! Read the reviews: http://www.yelp.com/biz/wang-chungs-honoluluWe planned going to Surfer Bar, Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku Sunday to see Lorene & Steve’s karaoke as per johnreynolds & bazingga’s recommendation but didn’t get around to it due to time constraints. That dang Dinner Scenic Boat Cruise took longer than expected. We visited 2 more clubs & they’re pretty much identical. Here’s from my observation point: what is it about cavs? Don’t they know that pc is much easier to manage, faster song access, effective visual rotation management, etc.? Waikiki, a bustling sizzling nightlife mecca for tourists & most karaoke enthusiasts on vacation will bring their own cds, but yet all karaoke bars we visited were using cavs & can’t play cds. Go figure! Overall, we had a blast from this much needed vacation! Thanks for the tips, guys!

Mahalo for the update Brian! Sounds like you had a great time in hawaii! We'll check out Wang Chungs per your recommendation when we head over for the holidays! ...funny but i sang "Don't Stop Believing" (wife loves it- makes her feel young again ) at that Shorebird place on our last trip and it was an SC version so they lied about not having SC or CB. Hmm... Something sounds very fishy over there with karaoke . The host when we went was a young filipino singer that was excellent. No real established rotation though. In the meantime, i am contemplating giving my gigs over to another kj so i can have more time with the kids before they're fully grown!! The wife wants me to quit hosting karaoke permanently, and instead do a live music gig earlier in the evenings. We'll see how the negotiations go her . not easy to walk away.....

Yes, they all have a CAVS and no SC/CB does sound a bit odd doesn't it?
I was told that Sensei was a disc show so if they are still there on your next trip you might give them a try.

Who would think a coffee house with a nice cocktail lounge + karaoke? I agree, food not good, but great strong drinks (Mai Tai's) half-price during happy hour. Cavs, 4 Pioneer ceiling speakers, sounds good, not great. Got sc, all songs in sync with graphics with the exception of the ripped pioneer lasers in his cavs. They're the only ones with noticeable delayed music against graphics highlights. Kj, big hawaiian guy & loves to sing, beginning & middle of rotation. Thanks again.
