What can I do to get you all to come to the Karaoke 4.0 event in Las Vegas? We are putting it together with the help of many players in the Karaoke industry including KScene. Please check out http://www.mobilebeat.com/las-vegas-dj- ... okereboot/ and give me input on it as to what we can do to get you there! Ryan |

(by the way love your Star Trek bit in your sig) I would hope so if I was paying for the whole thing, but I haven't been blessed with a financial fortune nor would I want to bring someone out that wasn't interested in having a part in their own improvement, other than giving up a couple days to be there. Work with me.... Ryan |

It's all financial reasons why I couldn't go. Getting down there, the stay (hotel, food, etc) while i'm there & paying hosts to cover my nights. |

It sounds good and I applaud you for putting on such a program but I have financial and transportation problems, too. I'm passing the link to others who might be able to make it, though. |

While Lon's suggestion would have done it for me , I understand the practicalities of the situation. I guess the real question would be not so much what we could ask for so much as what are you capable of doing in that regard? I'm one of those that have found these sorts of events fun and and a good way to meet people with whom I have communicated with by internet or phone in the past. Unfortunately, this is what I consider more of a working/socializing vacation. However, I run a business and to take time off and spend money to travel thosands of miles ( I'm in NJ) instead of working would require benefits to my business should outweigh cost and time. So, airfare and lodging aside, what ARE you able to offer? BTW- and early posting of itinerary would be very a helpful start. Not just the events but the names of the folks running them/speaking/etc..... |

Limo service? (kidding, Ryan). Just wondering - seminars be live-streamed over the net? |

Is there a benefit to attending something like this for karaoke nerds--that is, people who just really like karaoke, but have zero financial stake in it? I'd also qualify this by mentioning I am a bordering-on-terrible singer, but one who just really loves karaoke. |

I spent my travel budget this year on another Vegas DJ show, I found it very lacking (to be nice.) Maybe next year. |

never mind all the other financial concerns associated with travelling and staying at a hotel. For me, right off the bat I'd need $150 just to get my passport. Not worth it. But in all seriousness, could you be able to get a deal on a bus where the cost could be split by those participating? How about bulk rates on a block of hotel rooms? |

twansenne wrote: By not having Kurt at the show.... But in all reality, most of us here probably don’t have the $$$. Well, that first sentence above is probably one reason why people here are not interested in going. But kidding aside, I echo twansenne’s sentiment. I would like to attend but $$ is kinda tight with thanksgiving, black friday, cyber monday, christmas, new year’s eve & valentine’s, et al; I would still be paying up the yin-yang around Feb. I might consider attending if it’s around summer, perfect time too weather wise. Nevertheless, I applaud your efforts. I hope you have a great turnout. |

Like everyone else, it all comes down to financial issues. So, like Lonnie said, if you pay... I'm in. |

I run my show myself. I have to be here. I don't have the time, money, or the urge to get on a plane. Also not interested in anything Kurt hast to say, because he has no intention of helping karaoke move forward. He just wants to leave in the past with us all toting around discs. No thanks. But thanks for thinking of us all. |

Agreed. The funny thing is -- I'm actually going to be in Vegas during that timeframe and I wouldn't get near any event that includes Kurt. twansenne wrote: Ryan Burger - MB wrote: What can I do to get you all to come to the Karaoke 4.0 event in Las Vegas? I guess that I am going to bump one of my suggestions and explain it. I the itinerary and key people ( speakers/seminar leaders/instructors/technical advisors, etc...) were to be posted/listed as early as possible, many might see something or somebody that would cause them to think about making the trip. This should be faily easy to do in general ( excluding last minute exclusions/inclusions of course) as soon as the event is organized. If at least some of the information is available now ( you mentioned Karaoke Scene being involved) posting it may be helpful. Choosing/creating events and inviting speakers/participants that would be a draw could be a great way to build attendance. This sounds like common sense, but many organizers of all sorts of conventions take whatever "big" name of that industry that will participate without considering drawing power. |

Yeah that's nice, the Kurt Slep/David Grimes blurb suggests that we steal music. No wonder you can't get anybody there. I don't need either of them preaching to me about being legal - I purchased the karaoke tracks I have, that's how you do it. Once again, putting the emphasis on how to keep them from filing legal action against you, not how to improve the industry. BS |
