I had a thought of a certain type of contest a while back , and wanted to get some Karaoke singers thoughts of this.... This is a Tournement / like a pool tourney would be held. Tree style where you only compete against 1 other person per round the winner would move on. and the loser would go to a different bracket as in double elimination. Singers would compete till only one winner in winning bracket and one winner in the lower/loser bracket, to compete against each other for the title. Judges: Judging would be by 3-5 judges olympic style, meaning they would display thier scores of the singer to the audience, via numbered cards. Total score vs. total score, winner moves on. The reason for judges displaying scores is to being discouraged from being dishonest.. as in not liking a contestant so scoring them low.. or being friends with a contestant and scoring them high so they move on.... entry fee.. around 10$ per person.. Places paid to top 5 places with total entry fees being doubled by bar.... for instance 32 singers = 320$ plus $ 320 from the bar.. equals 640$ 1st $350 2nd $150 3rd $75 4th $45 5th $20 I had this set up at a bar in Wisconsin with signups of 45 ppl .. 3 days before the Tournement started the bar lost thier liscense for serving minors and all entry fees were returned and my idea went to the closet.. The reason i came up with this contest was for the not so good singers...lets face it some ppl are just average and then there are the great singers who practice often who win multiple contests. This way its individual against individual and not 1 singer against 20-30 other singers... I think this would give all singers a little more of even odds.. Also Singers are only allowed to sing a song twice in the tourney.. I only allow contestants to only use my music. so everyone has the same library to use... Now this is just a idea of mine so if you have any ?'s or comments good or bad please reply all feedback welcome.... \ If you unsure about what a pool bracket looks like you could google pool tourney brackets. thx chaz

I'd go with 5 judges, drop the high and low to make it more fair. hey use this in some sports to keep things more fair. I'm assuming the payout is for anyone in the semi-finals in the winners bracket and the one person from the losers bracket. If you're going to do a contest over a period of time this solves a lot of the normal issues associated with them. You still have to deal with the areas they rate them in and other issues but its a start. I'd probably have them only sing each song once though. Just to make it more interesting.

I appreciate all the emails, and the majority all like the concept.. but what im looking for is some one to give me something wrong they see with the contest... and yes It would be a one or two day contest only.. stretching it across many weeks wouldnt attract many singers.. also I figured with 32 ppl enrolled would be 94 songs... for double elimination and @ 4 mins a song would be 6.5 hrs.. and @ 5 mins a song would be around 8 hrs.. \ thx chaz
