It seems Mr. Entertainer has launched a new website for karaoke track downloads. http://www.mrentertainer.co.uk For a limited time if you use the code Special, you can get the download for half price, one pound. They have 81,609 tracks available for download. It would seem you would have no problem using the material commercially in the UK, I don't know about the U.S. It would seem the exchange rate is one pound is equal to $1.69 U.S. The normal price per track is 2 pounds so roughly it is $3.38 per track. So Jim was wondering what a fair price for SC downloads would be this could give him an idea. Sorry cue din't carry the one. |

Under the DigiTop umbrella. This is a re-skinned Select-a-Track site. I imagine they offer the exact same tracks as Select-a-Track. Will use them for as long as the special is running. -Chris |

I wonder why Digitop isn't playing by the no fly list rules. Many no fly artists are available for download there. |

Although the half-price special is almost the same as tricera 25 credit packs (conversion £1 = $1.69) it would be worthwhile to check into the no fly lists artists pulled down by karaokedownloads.ca & kv i.e., bon jovi, adele, bee gees, prince, coldplay & many others but listed at this download site. btw, fingers crossed, been waiting for bon jovi’s hallelujah. |

Skimmed the FAQs and saw that the no fly titles are listed because they will still be available for custom discs, but the download option will not be available for those titles. |

I think your math is a little bit off. If the tracks are selling for 2 Pounds (where 1 Pound = $1.69 USD), and the sale is half price, then the cost per track would be $1.69 USD (not $2.38). Now, without a sale, that would come to about $3.40 USD per track. The Lone Ranger wrote: So Jim was wondering what a fair price for SC downloads would be this could give him an idea.

But they aren't being blocked to download, well ok I don't know that for sure, but I was able to get a cart full of no fly artists in mp3g option - not cdg option. I didn't buy as I really didn't need the songs was just testing.

Could be an oops in the system. Grab what you can before they spot and fix it. |

Just downloaded a few recent requests, and did find one that would require a custom disk/dvd, as it would not let me download the mp4 version of Firework - Katy Perry... will pick it up later when I can justify the shipping charges, or it becomes available some where else! |

dont forget, it only takes one of the rights holders to ok the sale. maybe that is why some of the no fly ones are downloadable but not others. |

The more portals they set up, the more they sell. Also, the more they push competitors down in the search rankings when people look for karaoke. Helps keep make the pirates sites less visible as well. |

a lot of the 'no fly' songs are listed on this site. However, if you you go to the 'select a format' pull down menu, you can only select the disc option. -James |

Let one SBI site (Mr. Entertainer is SBI after all) compete against itself and see if they can go unnoticed by the MCPS/PRS for as long as Selectatrack did and sell into the US. (naughty naughty) I think I'll give them a call and see about getting my tracks on there as well Actually, I think I'll wait a bit and watch what happens for a while... |

I don't think you are actually interested in selling your tracks. If you have paid your license fees, and done the right things get them on the market already!!! Gets old hearing about all these great songs you have when nobody can buy them!! |

Quote: I don't think you are actually interested in selling your tracks. If you have paid your license fees, and done the right things get them on the market already!!! Gets old hearing about all these great songs you have when nobody can buy them!! Actually, they are selling amazingly well mate... They are available in the market where they are legally licensed to be sold. I have received compliments from users on this forum on their quality and appreciate it. What I won't do, is follow a shady path of distribution that can open me up to litigation or denial of US licences in the future. Digitop lost their credibility in the eyes of the PRS in the UK when they elected to ignore the territorial restrictions that are in place for distribution over here. They presented themselves as the "industry leader" etc only to suffer the embarrassment of having to suddenly block their site to customers outside the UK because they had to do to the regulations. Like they didn't know that they were breaking the rules... You don't seem to grasp the difference between the licensing requirements of a manufacturer versus those of the distributor (in this case, the web site). I am working towards distributing my content in the US, and the process is painstakingly slow and expensive. But I think it will be worth it and I see light at the end of the tunnel. The last thing I want to do, is to jeopardise my publisher approvals in the US by associating with a distributor that they deem is an infringer of their territorial boundaries. |

Is there a site where we can at least sample your stuff. Personally, I think the whole territory issue is B.S. and there a lot of agencies who need to get their heads out of their collective bums!!! It's Music for Christ's sake. It's not weapons!! |

Our tracks are available on Customburn... Whether you are able to get access to it depends on your location or ingenuity due to the fact that it blocks IP addresses outside the territory just like Selectatrack now does. Quote: Personally, I think the whole territory issue is B.S. and there a lot of agencies who need to get their heads out of their collective bums!!! I am not in disagreement with you mate. But the fact is, that the same territorial rules apply to any number of other mediums as well. I can't watch many videos or clips that are on the web as it says "Sorry, the content is not available in your country" or something to that effect. The system is arcane and designed to make money for the publishers - end of story. In the UK, I send my tracks over to the web site, they put them up for sale, sell them, send a report to the PRS with title and artist names and pay the flat fee per track and it's job done. If I want to sell my tracks in the US, I have to research each song first and identify every writer and sometimes that can be 5 or more!, determine their % of ownership, then ask for an approval from the publisher(s) to do the track. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that before I can go through all of that -I have to pay a $20,000-30,000 advance to EACH publisher annually. So believe me when I say that I am in agreement with you regarding the system.. But it is what it is and thus my earlier post that after starting this time consuming and expensive process, I am not willing to jeopardise what I have invested in. In the meantime, all I can do is keep producing and selling where I can and continue the process Stateside... |
