If an artist is on the no fly list ( I think that 's what they call it). Does that mean they are no longer on any karaoke. Is that only in the U.S. or everywhere. Also if u have one of those artist on an older disc can u play it. Does anyone know thanks |

The "no fly list" is NOW being enforced in the UK (IE Sunfly and Zoom) However you can work around this by buying tracks available on original manufacturer's disc.. If you own a legally produced disc made before the artist was placed on the "no fly list" you can play it.....to muddy the water the same rules do NOT appear to apply to downloads you may have purchased from the exact same manufactures. |

Custom discs are immune from the no fly list at this point as well so you can still get the songs you want from like SBI, Sunfly - even All Star has adapted to where they offer more on their custom site than they do on their download only site. |

Would be interested to see that as well, especially with the Sony decision to pull tracks from the UK manus now. |

the only thing that has changed to my knowledge is that Adele must be getting desperate for money, because her newer songs like "hello" are know available at Karaokeversion etc. -James |

I read it somewhere, though it was in their weekly blog.

The no fly list in the UK is a bit of an odd one because provided the track is released on a CD then it can be made, so recently Adele and Disturbed's version of Sound Of Silence (both on no fly list) but are not available as a download. |

Interestingly enough - SBI HAD Sound Of Silence as a download - I bought it directly from them.

1. No Fly list as applied to USA - no usage approved 2. No Fly list as applied to UK - no digital usage, pressed or custom discs allowed Until Sony/ATV held the PRS/MCPS accountable for turning a blind eye to it's karaoke manufacturers, they made no effort to actually enforce their own restrictions. That has changed and those companies are now complying to a large degree. Adele has made a deal with KV from what I understand and thats why you can find her tracks for download. |

KV seems to be doing a lot of things that no one else is doing, and it seems like they've had this edge for quite some time. Sadly, others don't seem to understand why they're winning the game. It was pretty clear many years ago that KV was doing everything the customers wanted, yet American companies went in completely other strange directions. Sound Choice with their choice to go with litigation, and Karaoke Cloud with their music rental scheme. Neither of these worked and most of us weren't really surprised when they didn't. I really hope the debate over what works and what doesn't is finally over, and I'd like to see some other company really start to compete with KV at their level. Watching KV today is like watching Microsoft in the 1990s. |

Watching KV today is like watching Microsoft in the 1990s. The edge you are referring to should be defined as the region where they operate from and the advantages they gain from it. Precisely the same advantage that the UK manufacturers have had over the USA. It's easy to do everything the customers want when you are not restricted. SC made mistakes long before they pursued their current path of litigation. KC made serious blunders that completely undermined their concept. That doesn't mean the concept was flawed. KV is not without justifiable scrutiny and time will tell how things will play out. |
