Is Karaoke Song List Creator a useful tool in your opinion? Are there similar programs that could make a song list from a folder I create? Especially if I have music from different services.

It does the basic functions, but I had a horrible experience with customer service.

FastTracks is generally considered the industry standard. I've used four different "leading" programs, and this one is by far the best.

Do you mean this program --> http://karaokesonglistcreator.com/

or do you mean Song List Generator by Karaosoft --> http://www.karaosoft.com/productdetails ... rator.aspx

They have been confused for each other on this forum before, that is why I ask.
I use Song List Generator by Karaosoft...fabulous program.

Thanks a lot Kirk. It went off with PLENTY of hitches. HDMI wouldn't connect to the smart tv, forgot my hard drive with 75% of the karaoke music and the venue did no promotion...With that being said, the promotion we did as a team, brought in a few people. And us and those few people had a ball, as I found a different tv to connect to and was able to use youtube karaoke to save my (@$%&#!). And I got a couple real singers, thank god. I got kinda lucky with my first experience. Second night next week, after the east coast storm.

I'm going to need one of them Karaoke subscriptions to find individual tracks.

You don't need a SUB to get new music. Just set up accounts with All Star Downloads @ www.allstarkaraokedownloads.comDownloads and Tricerasoft @ www.tricerasoft.com/cgi-bin/KaraokeDown ... /index.asp From there you can get most everything you need. You can get better prices at All Star by going to www.walmart.com/ip/AllStarCustom.com-Ka ... y/21310093 and getting the 45 prepaid for $20 bucks. If your software will do drag and drop like mine will, all you have to do is leave your download window open and drag the new songs in as you need them. Then when you get home put them into your regular files and then into the normal menus. I don't like using HDMI for anything. If that's your only video output you can use a converter to change it to something like Composite or S-video. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=1 ... 1&format=2 is how I go about it with VGA out of my computer. There are HDMI to Composite adapters out there and maybe someone can tell you more about them.

The snow cancelled my second night. But a day off is a day off.

Thanks a lot, this advice helps tremendously. And I am learning the hard way that VDJ is not the best way to do Karaoke. The search option is just not strong enough to find the karaoke songs efficiently. Time to buy an actual karaoke program.

I hear you on not using HDMI, i can't seem to get rid of the audio signal that comes out of it and it's causing a buzzing in my speakers. Can't be good. I have to find out if the flat screens they have can take a different video input. I loved HDMI...until now. I'll try to find a cheap hdmi-composite converter.

Thanks Cap'n!

How is the HDMI causing a buzz in your speakers? They shouldn't be at all related, as they are on completely different circuits. You will likely still have that buzz after you switch the HDMI. It's more likely coming from a bad power source or some sort of interference, like the bar's neon lights. Don't replace the HDMI! It's by far the best way to distribute video!

I unfortunately had to go through trial and error during the show. Finally i noticed that when I unplugged my HDMI cord the buzzing stopped. it DID occur to me that there could be interference coming from somewhere else... I just couldn't figure out where. My speakers were at a good distance and the lights...I can't remember off the top of my head how they were positioned. i can also try the other hdmi port and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the second opinion. I knew it could possibly be something else. Because there is no interference when i do it at home.

One thing you can try is using a Ferrite Core cable. They are supposed to stop that kind of interference from returning to the audio chain. Just a thought. :)

As Frede said, unplug the cable TV, if connected, and see if it goes away.

It could be a ground loop. Good luck with that. :?

I fixed mine by grounding my cable to the house ground. Works like a champ now.

Post subject:  Re: Is Karaoke Song List Creator Any Good?

I have one venue where we use HDMI and something in the video chain causes a buzz. The buzz is fairly quiet and does not get louder with turning up mixer output. We can't hear it during a normal karaoke run. We use filler/bumper music so there is practically no dead air and even when we do have it, the bar is loud enough that the buzz can't be detected.

But it still drives me nuts! So I will be in this weekend to test a few things out to eliminate it.

It is likely a ground loop somewhere since the HDMI plugs into a splitter which distributes to 3 TV's and a Projector. I doubt all of them are on the same circuit given how far apart all of them are, so I will run around and start unplugging things till I find the culprit.

I'd go in and do it during the day if you can. I'd be more quiet and easier to detect as you move away from the PA.

In my house, all my neutrals run to the same block as all my grounds. Having all the circuits grounded the same means I don't have to worry if they are on the same circuit or not. I'd take an AC checker with me to make sure everything is wired right. You can pick one up at a home depot type place for not much if you don't have one. Any device plugged into a bad\non ground is risking issues with your equipment even if it is grounded properly. Probably more so..

Thank you for that suggestion btw. I wasn't going to go to that much trouble, but I think I will now that you have mentioned it. This is the same bar that paid me to yank all their RCA wiring and replace with HDMI. Everything is great for the house system, it is only karaoke that has the buzz. But if I can help them identify other potential electrical issues, it just foster additional good will.
