Been really looking into setting a HOME karaoke system. I dont really want to go all out or anything but i want something decent. My dad started me off by giving me a pair of wireless mics that he got from asian store that was probably over priced "bettermusicbuilder VM-82U-G2" I will probably be using these mics and as i have been reading a bunch of other threads i will be leaning towards getting the Electro-Voice ZLX12P Two-Way Powered 12" Loudspeaker. My question now is what else do i really need to set everything up? THank you |

You'll need a mixer and a way to play and display karaoke. This is a standard issue mixer http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MG10XU Has compression and effects which you will be glad you have. After that, cables to hook everything up. |

Agree with the Yamaha mixer recommendation above. If you are only getting 1 speaker to start, you will need 1 XLR M to XLR F (standard mic cord) I'd go at least 25' depending on where your mixer will be in relation to the speaker - you can always have more if needed. The mics probably came with a generic 1/4" cord, this only combines both mics into one channel, it's better to have separate controls for each mic so keep the receiver by the mixer you can go with a couple 3' mic cords (again XLR M to XLR F). If you are running from your computer, a nice sound card will enhance the music a lot. A Lexicon Alpha is a great entry level card that will not break the bank. This connects to the computer via USB then 2 1/4" - 1/4" cables go from the Alpha to the mixer inputs. I have never heard of that mic system before, it 'looks' good, kind of resembles a nicer Sennheiser system, but you can never tell by looks alone. But it will probably be fine for your personal use. |

You have a few options with acquiring karaoke music: 1) Karaoke Channel on your TV 2) Cheap karaoke collections (CD's) from ebay or from members on here. 3) Music downloads to a computer 4) karaoke Subscription as far as hardware: 1) a cheap laptop or desktop with a second monitor out (to display CDG graphics) 2) or an iPad/Tablet running many free karaoke Apps 3) or any hardware device that you can get access to you tube karaoke. (Smart TV) other hardware: 1) Powered Speakers (depending on your budget) 2) small 4 channel mixer (40 bucks on eBay) Behringer makes some cheap durable ones. 3) cables to connect everything. Cheers! |

A table at the side with an ashtray so cigarettes can be left there unless you allow people to hold their cigarettes at the side of the mic while they are singing |

Oh, most smokers I know don't actually allow smoking in their home, especially at parties. Ok so a table with ashtray off to the side. |
