Post subject: | Is my SC 8152 real or pirated....? |
Hi guys, I've made the decision to fill in as many holes as possible to my Sound Choice collection. Online is my preferred shop and being 2016 it's slim pickings. So I recently bought SC8152 from a KJ and it was sealed professionally, no scratches when opened looks great. But when I played it several songs had different backing colours? These tracks open against a blue screen instead of the standard sound choice black screen. The sound choice logo was black & white instead of the vibrant read and white motive. Tracy Byrd - The Keeper Of The Stars, Greg Holland - When I Come Back (I Wanna Be My Dog), John & Audrey Wiggins - She's In The Bedroom Crying, Alan Jackson - Gone Country. Now I've sung Alan Jackson - Gone Country at a venue before and it was black screen/red & white logo for sure (don't know if it was off the same disc?). I've sung it there a few times. So what's wrong with my disc? Is it broken, illegal, or intentionally made that way by sound choice? Is anyone here aware of this production and if this is faulty does anyone have a guide (or a post) for which titles to steer clear from. Thanks. |

Take a picture of both the top and bottom and post. This will help. SC used to have some discs with different background colors in the early 8100 years. |

Hi Lonman, thanks for the reply. I take it you mean the top and bottom of the disc? Well I can tell you that both the top and bottom look perfect and identical to the rest of my collection. That's what confuses me the most because I've never seen a blue background. The logo is always red over white. And certainly the consistency of the 15 sings to all be the same. This was only 4 songs out of 15 making me think it must be a defect (or worse). I have seen a grey Hotel California - Eagles sound choice at another venue and that just sparks up more questions about the SC 8125 on #### (a popular selling site). I'd like to bid on it for my collection but only if it's legit. Lonman do you have SC 8125? Can you verify any different colours? And do you have SC 8152 as well? |

Agree. Older Sound Choice stuff did use different colors. Also, it's not like a pirate is going to take the time to completely remake the CDG lyrics. That wouldn't make any sense. The only way it would make sense is if they completely removed the SC logo from the lyrics display as if to hide the fact that it was an SC track. If that were the case, they also wouldn't take the time to make the disc itself appear like an SC disc. As long as the bottom side of the disc is a silver color like all factory produced CDs, it's probably genuine. |

Is it 8125 or 8152? 8152 is a Country themed disc. 3-4 of the tracks use a BLUE background instead of BLACK. 8125 is the Eagles disc. Some of these tracks use a GREY background along with the BLUE and BLACK. -Chris |

Thank you gentlemen, It's nice to know it's legit and working properly. Chris, it is 8152 Country hits, 4 blue screens. I mentioned the Eagles disc 8125 because It was the only other colour change (grey) I'd seen behind the lyrics. Sound choice will always be my favourite for 3 reasons. 1. Range of diverse songs. I was amazed when I saw Boston - Foreplay (wish they would've done Hitch A Ride, Let Me Take You Home Tonight & Something About You). 2. Production at the time was miles ahead of the rest. 3. Place in time. My fondest memories of karaoke was when it was new and Sound Choice was the party. Thanks again everyone! |

I have this disc and just checked every song on it and all screens are black. Now this is not saying that SC didn't reissue this disc with changes. |

Your kidding me right? I don't know what to say, maybe it's a crap batch? The blue screens look cheap compared to black. Pity they don't exist any longer so I could swap the faulty disc or send the disc back and get digital files replaced in the mail. Thanks for the reply Wolfy, you've given me something to think about. |

No no no, again some of the original releases came with different colored backgrounds until they settled on a standardized black background and re-released many of the original discs eventually with black. This particular disc you have sounds like it was most likely an original pressing with different colors on some songs. |

Mine has some blue (CB blue) backgrounds too. Nothing distracting enough to get upset about though. |

Heck just how many times have you seen a song put on several different discs. Do they all look the same? I don't know and not about to check them all out. |
