I would like to ask any of the Karaoke presenters, what if anything do they use to keep the mikes, from getting contaminated with people who say have a cold or something.
I have found that a few times i have ended up with a sore throat, or even a cold. So do you presenters wipe the mikes with some kind of wipes or something similar, because i noticed sometimes the presenter have there own mikes and the singers share there´s all the time. thanks.

first off mike is a person's name. you mean mic or microphone.

any disinfectant wipe are fine like Lysol or Clorox.

I use Clorox wipes. I don't know which works best or at all. At lest I try.

Years ago i used to use clorox wipes until some singers complained of the smell or getting light headaches.

Since then WET ONES (unscented) have worked brilliantly.

I do wipe my MICS off after every singer to prevent colds and to remove any beer, food, spit, lipstick, etc... (yuk) on them.

Every month or so i remove and clean the MIC screens with alcohol.

Dish soap n water does the trick for me. I use 8 wireless mics and usually average using 2 or 3 per show, but just in case, I always have that one mic on "standby" for that one special singer.

I have a small (travel size 2-3 ounces) spray bottle filled with 90% isopropyl alcohol. A quick spray and all is good to go. It dries very quickly and is not corrosive to the mic grill.

I give them a quick spray with lysol, a couple of times during a show. I wash the screens and filters at home with soap and water.

Dipping the head in battery acid keeps the germs down and does a great job stopping both the mic eaters and the wanna be gangstas that think you have to cup the mic.

Can of Lysol on stage in plain view. We make sure people see us use it and encourage them to give the mic a squirt before and after a performance.

I have lysol wipes that I use when I have someone with a scratchy voice, sniffing, touches their nose, or coughing comes up to sing.

Lysol is a good disinfectant but I've never seen a nurse or doctor use it to clean someone's arm before giving an injection.

I will switch to alcohol when I see someone inject a microphone

When I was doing live sound every night... I kept a can of lysol on stage behind the cabs in plain view. Some singers
used it after they had let guest stars sing.
My regular procedure was to keep a second set of SM58 and Sennheiser balls (Pun intended!). After each show I swapped the vocal mic balls for clean ones before packing them. The other set got dropped in dish soap when I got home, they were dry by morning. For karaoke I lysol them and only clean em every 4-5 shows. The danger with lysol is that some of the chinese made mics do not like alcohol, it dissolves the glue on the diaphragm. You have to pull the ball off to avoid this.
I do not have vocopro mics so you are on your own. My old GDI's didnt mind it.
