Post subject:  Lounge Act

Hello:
I have been approached about putting together a "lounge act," for want of a better term, to perform in local nursing homes. I have purchased a Behringer PPA500BT portable system which will work in the rooms I intend to play. I can mount a tablet or ipod on the mic stand and discretely que my songs from there. I know enough about performing not to stand there and look at my device for scrolling lyrics, although that would be really nice during rehearsals. I'm am sure many on here have done similar things and know what works and what does not. I am not sure what device to buy or what software to download into it. I am old and not really techno savvy, but I have access to a 13 year old grandson who can help. Any advice or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I have a friend who attends the Open mic nights and had asked me for some info on tips & tricks. Here is one you can try.

Ipad apps used:
1) promptsmart pro (voice recognition scrolling lyrics) $19.00
2) Lyrics mania (lyrics search engine) Free

Hardware:
1) irig Guitar Adapter Rig Guitar Link Audio Interface $5.00
2) C9Q Wireless FM Transmitter Receiver Lavalier Lapel Clip Microphone Mic System Black $10.00

The lavalier mic is hidden in your shirt and controls the scrolling of the lyrics when you sing. Unaffected by surrounding noise and only scrolls when words are said.

You can also avoid the wireless mic and patch a 1/4" cable from Aux out of mixer into the iRig adaptor sending vocals out and controlling the scroll.

My PA has bluetooth capability so there is no need for aux cables in most cases. What is the best software to download that can play songs from multiple sources and allow change of both tempo and key? Do I need something more than a $75 tablet?

Karafun would be an absolute best choice for you (windows version) it's the only version that allows you to add your own folder. The developers have optomized the newest version to run very nice on portable devices.

Many others will say karma, but do keep in mind the minimum requirements to run karma is the display needs to be 1280x1024.
