I don't think Seby meant to have them all added as genres, just as potential themes for theme week...

Maybe a better idea would to be to simply add a THEME category, so all themes can be posted there instead of trying to work out which genre to post it under...

Phil: No need to add all the themes listed as genre's. Some perhaps, like Alternative make sense to be added. Other's don't make sense to add like 'Simply Sinatra'. I think adding a Theme genre would make sense to add though so we know which ones are tied to a voted theme and not necessarily a 'regular' submission.

I thought we did bloopers under comedy but I'm not sure and will add it as a theme. I'll add the other recommendations to the list and if you have any other themes you want added let us know! BTW, I REALLY appreciate the ideas... and I'm hoping NeverHeardOfHer does as well....

I've been trying to use 9 selections in the poll (during 'normal' weeks) and I hope it's not too much. If you want fewer selections let me know. I tried doing 10 but had all sorts of problems with the post and poll so more might not be real practical.

 Recommendations for specific weeks:
'Lover's theme' week for February 6-13. That way everyone can sing love songs and prepare for Valentine's Day. I'd say do it the week after but a lot of people are 'over it all' or burned out on all the 'lovey dovey stuff' by then.

'Irish Week' for March 13-20. Irish drinking songs, Celtic, and anything else to do with Ireland for St. Patty's day.

NHoH, Sorry to hear you're a bit under the weather and I'll be more than happy to help if you need it... I'm just 4 hours behind the east coast and sometimes don't get on until late so I feel I'm letting everyone down by not posting the polls until late Monday and some people might not see them until Tuesday morning...

I believe you both are doing a wonderful job in handling the Theme of the Week. It is a great idea and many of the members really enjoy it. A BIG Thank you from me and I am certain that the moderators feel the same.

Anyway, I think I understand now - those were suggestions for the Theme of the Week.

I don't believe we have Alternative as a genre and will add that.

I also would like a Comedy week, that could include "Bloopers"

Thanks again to karaokemeister & NeverHeardOfHer and to all our members for participating. This really makes the site FUN!

I have a suggestion for "Theme of the Week" for Jan. 31-Feb. 4th.

Feb. 3rd is known as "The Day the Music Died" (1959) when Buddy Holly, Big Bopper (JP Richardson) and Ritchie Valens' plane crashed near Clear Lake Iowa.

I vote that we honor their memories by singing their tunes that week.

 Whadda Think?

I might even get a chance to record between now and then!

I think it is a GREAT idea!! As well as, all the ones in this thread.
Thank you everyone for your input...it is appreciated.
Karaokemeister, I am feeling a little better, thanks for the well wishes. I can't wait to hear your sub!
Phill, you do plenty of work on here, any little thing I can do to help everyone have even more fun, I am happy to do!
This whole thing started as Genre of the Week (by our dear AllStar, I might add ) to encourage others to get 'out of their box' and sing something other than what they are used to. I think moving into adding Theme of the Week as well, seems to be just as fun for everyone!
 Keep the great ideas coming!!!
I hope to be adding my subs to the latest submission page, when I am back on my feet....
 ...Yes, that is a warning!

Not sure if it's ever been done or suggested... but I have noticed several people "featuring" someone ...i.e, Margie & Cort, lots of you with kids.....etc.
How about "Feature a Friend" week. (With their permission, of course)!
It may even get some new members!
 Just a thought....

That's a pretty cool idea Cindy --- too bad I don't have any friends (outside of here that is -- well maybe I don't have any here either )
No - what I meant was I don't have any friends that sing but I'll try to find some if this happens ok?

Maybe someone that goes to the same Karaoke show that you do? Or a relative too shy to sing "in public"... ??

That's the funny thing about the karaoke shows I have gone to. One night I went to the bar and sang 20+ songs between 930-1am because no one other me and the KJ would sing (same guy that has "thousands of songs that are thousands of years old" I talked about in another thread). Finally after enough liquid courage some got up to do something that resembled singing?
I'll have to think about it -- I just love the idea tho -- would be cool! Even if I can't round up anyone I know lots of you all out there would be able to and it'd be cool!
