So a musician friend of mine has a Filipino friend who would like to set up a home karaoke system. My friend asked me if I could make a recommendation which I can't because I don't have a clue as to the various playback systems available let alone Philippine content. So here is the IM he sent me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hey tom, hope you are well. Was wonderin. What would you suggest to someone who wanted a simple karaoke setup that works with your home system, if any? One that has multiple language options and preferably one that has hdmi. I have a Filipina friend who was looking at this Magic Sing product that has options she likes but it sounds kinda cheesy to me. She likes it because it has 2 wireless mics and some Filipina language options. Thanks
As a pro karaoke host and a Filipino-American, I’ll consider myself familiar with filipino karaoke.
I’ve been to many karaoke parties and most of them just hate the magic-sing system. Delay issues were one of their complaints (among others). Almost all the songs are not in sync with the wipes. It's so hard to sing in sync with the music due to a lag between the time you sing the lyrics and when you hear your voice exits the speaker.
Stay away from this product. It’s nothing but a toy for beginners. Embarrassing to say the least. But I was told there’s a solution to eliminate the delay. Don’t use the hdmi cable. Use the a/v output, connect audio to your sound system, composite cable (rca) to tv.
Magic-sing is worthless imo, poor quality, very tinny electronic sound synthesizer and the ever present annoying flute melody guide. Yikess!
Anyway, back to what kind of player: Cavs super cdg player or Acesonic kod-6000. The goto store is ace karaoke, from super cdg songs, speakers, or the complete package karaoke system. 'hope that helps.
