Post subject:  Any experience with these speakers?

I am interested in buying some new speakers and want to see if anyone has experience with the Peavy PR15s or PR115s. Both get good reviews on American Musical and SamAsh for band applications.

I work in a small to medium venue (about 100 people), and run my mains through a Yamaha EMX68S (400 watts/channel) with a BBE sonic processor.

If you have no experience with these speakers, could you recommend some good speakers in the $200-300 each range??? Thanks!!

I personally think they sound "boxy" & trebly (no bass), not very full sounding. They do use the lowest grade of speaker components that Peavey makes which is why they can be bought so cheap. I might use these in my home, but wouldn't bring them into a club setting - but that's just me.

Speakers and amps are your main components that will drive your sound - don't skimp in either area! Look at the Yamaha Series V Club Series, they'll compliment the EMX nicely.

I have a pair of the 12" speakers PR12. They are lite weight and they sound very decent for small to medium size vesnues. Do they sound as full and deep as my Peavye SP5G'S weiging and costing TWICE AS MUCH..... NO WAY ...But then again I use my PR12 without hesitation on a weekly basis. Are they worth the investment ..I would say absolutley ..$400 FOR A PAIR! They will do a good job.......

Side by side comparison between the PR15 and the other speakers from Peavy , Yamaha and JBL costing twice as much .... It's like comparing apples and oranges. The heavier more expensive speakers will sound better ...But thats expected ... PEAVEY LITE WEIGHTS ..GREAT BANG FOR THE BUCK !

Post subject:  Cool, thanks

I think I will save up for the Yamaha Club Series V S115 speakers....from what you have told me and everything I read, they will be a good long-term investment for me....I run a single Yamaha BR-15 as my moniter and it sounds great (better than my mains at times!), I bet the S115s will sound much better!!! Thanks!!
