Karaoke Forums

I was faced with my first singer tonight saying "I get the karaoke version on youtube", i explained that unless we can legally purcahse the song we can't play it, and beyond the we don't use internet while hosting... What are thoughts how to handle these singers?

Secondly, Artists changing names, ie: Dixie Chicks now The Chicks, do you all update, or leave the original tracks as the original artist

As a singer I understand how frustrating it is to learn a song on YouTube, then find out it's either missing or a different version at the venue. I think you explained the problem perfectly and I respect you're not playing songs without proper rights.

I used to run totally offline, in fact I ran offline last night at a private fundraiser party. My cell phone had absolutely no signal in the hall and I decided to not bother asking about wifi connection, did the I would be happy to get any song that I could legally buy.
As to question number two, I leave the original song listed as they were known, i.e. Dixie Chicks are still Dixie Chicks but the new releases will be listed as The Chicks. As I would normally take the requests remotely, I would also buy and download legally purchased songs. Didn't have that option last night so I just took the requests verbally.
