Hello- New member, home karaoke enthusiast and am looking for suggestions to upgrade. We host home karaoke parties about 2-3 times a month and I use my karaoke system to listen to music with my family, while cleaning the house etc. Nothing professional but we do enjoy music and singing when we drink. Listen to mostly 80's, rap, some rock but alot of the songs we sing have good bass. Current set-up: BMB CSN-500 speakers Audio 2000's AJK7406 amp Connected to our TV via audio optical Streaming youtube songs to TV from iPhone using Chromecast Shure wireless mics No mixer The room and sound is excellent but it lacks the bass and if I turn up the volume too loud, speakers start to distort. I'm currently looking at upgrading the speakers and adding a powered sub. Options include: Adding two passive speakers to the BMB's and a powered sub. Replacing the BMB's and adding a powered sub. Sell my current amp and BMB's and upgrade the entire system. I really like the sound of BMB's but I've never heard other brands in a karaoke set-up. The amp and how it's connected isn't that clean but it works. I'm not opposed to getting a complete powered set-up either If adding to the BMB's, my budget is $600 If replacing the BMB's, my budget is $1200 If replacing amp and BMB's, my budget is $2000 In your experience, what speakers are a great alternative or even better than the BMB's? What amp or amp/mixer options are good? So far I've been on acekaraoke and sweetwater looking at stuff. Also checking out local FB and CL ads. Any insight / suggestions are appreciated. |

Behringer VS1220 passive speakers Behringer B1200DPRO powered sub Going to try these out with my existing amp and see how they compare to the BMB's. Sweetwater has a decent return policy so if the Behringers don't work out, I may return and try out your suggested Alto set-up. |

Here's what you do... Take your BMB speakers and Audio 2000 amp out with the trash. They are toys. Next, go to Sweetwater and buy the following system: Electro-Voice Evolve 50 and a Mackie ProFX12 v3. You will go over your $2000 budget by $150, but you will thank me in the end. You will be blown away by the sound quality of the speaker and the Mackie mixer is awesome. A winning combination. Trust me on this, you won't be sorry. At one of my venues, the house system consists of seven 15 inch Eon speakers all around the room. It's a large place and I'm free to use the house system if I wanted but I don't. Why? Because my 2 Evolve 50's blow their house system of 7 speakers away. So, forget about the old school boxy satellite/subwoofer systems and do what I'm telling you. And trust me, in my 30+ year career as a KJ/DJ, I've used just about every kind of system out there and the Evolve's are the best purchase I ever made. |

While the Behringer system is better than your present system, it's no match for the setup that Paradigm has recommended. Or what I have recommended. So, why bother asking for advice when you're only going to do what you want anyway? Neither I, or Paradigm, or anyone on here would have recommended the Behringer speakers that you bought from Sweetwater. So many better alternatives, but you need to find out the hard way. |

I ended up returning the Behringer VS1220 as they were not near the sound quality of the "trash" BMB's that I'm currently using. I'm asking for suggestions / recommendations to "consider", not blindly follow. Everyone's opinion, preference, budget, ear is different. So thank you for your suggestions, whether professional or novice. Just sold the BMB's this morning and am still in the market... |
