					| Other songs in this range and style would include
 Lesson In Leaving--Jo Dee Messina
 I'm All Right--Jo Dee Messina
 No One Else on Earth--Wynona
 Men--The Forrester Sisters
 I Feel Lucky--Mary Chapin Carpenter
 Why Haven't I Heard From You--Reba
My Give A Damn's Busted--Jo Dee Messina (CAUTION--I don't know how overplayed this song may be in your area, avoid it if it is done often)
Also, check out this article on how to win a karaoke contest--I always send a copy to the finalists in any contest I run just to provide the best show possible for the audience.  There are a lot of great tips in there!

					| My Give A Gosh Darn's Busted?  What kind of $hit is that?  I think the profanity filter is a little too tightly wound there. _________________

					| Have you tried anything from Gretchen Wilson -
Here for the Pary or Redneck Woman

Both would be energetic crowd pleasures for a contest

					| I wonder if to "stand out" you might need something a little different.  I guess it depends on the judges and who else is doing the listening.  When I hear the girls "belt out" the country, I often wish at least one or two would try to work in a little vibrato in their voice.  If I were a judge, I'd listen for that.  Just my two cents.

I hate to be the one to say this, but try not to build your hopes up too much. More often than not, Karaoke Contests do not go the way you would expect them to go(but that's a different topic).
That being said, here's a few suggestions:
Here for the Party - Grtechen Wilson
Pour Me - Trick Pony (Very upbeat song, and it mentions Karaoke in the lyrics)
 I'm a Survivor - Reba McEntire

Don't get me wrong.... There are Karaoke Contests out there that are run fairly. Don't go in with the expectations of winning. My suggestions would be to go in and give it your all (like you said). Just try not to think about it as a Contest, and have fun with it(like on a normal Karaoke night).

					| Do you have anything recorded that we might be able to listen to?  That would help me a lot in determining what styles are best suited for you.  I've been pretty good at picking out songs for people that best fit their voice... had someone win a competition once with a song I chose for them.  Not that that really matters, or anything... but I would like to have a listen to you, in any event. _________________

					| Nothing fills those long musical breaks in a country song better than a few good ol' fashioned, well placed "YEEE HAWs!!!!" _________________
