Last week I had a visit from a fellow KJ. Says he's been doing it 4 years. He offered me the sale of a Hard Drive with 35,000 songs on it. I played along and told him I would think about it. He also offered some tips on how I should turn down the reverb. He sounds like one of the singers that wants to here his natural, naked voice. Or he doesn't have reverb or believe in it.
He came back this week with a buddy or two. I can't tell how many for sure. Anyway he procededs to start talking to everyone. He's telling them all about his show. How good he is and how I suck. He's trying to get all of my singers to come with his show. He told one of the singers, that told me about it. Seems he thought me and my system sucked a whole lot. I can understand why. The singer that told me said he better shut up because he was my friend. I told him not to get involved in anything because I know what I have. And I have no fear of anyone's system in our entire metro area.
Here is where it gets real good. He (KJ) comes up and asks me if I play anywhere else around here. I showed him my calender that has Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays filled in. He looks at it and says He was at the Saturday show about 4 years ago. And he can't come to it because he now works Saturdays.
One night a week, after 4 years of being a KJ. LMAO It gets even better. He tells me he gets $200 a night. He asks me what I charge. I have nothing to hide from him. I told him $175. Let's see. He gets $800 a month and I get $885 a week.
So I will be conceeding to him, my crown. Anyone that is that good needs all the help he can get. He is the new King of Karaoke. I truely suck compared to him.
He also has much more class and talent than I do.
