Hi guys I always by the discs and up load the songs
to my machine. I was looking at
the Cavs website and their down loads are made by the company
"Panorama". Who the heck is that? Does anyone know what the quality is?
It would be so much easier to just download from a site, but I am not comfortable
with a company I've never heard of. Yes it is legal.

I believe Panorama is the production company which does the studio mastering and formatting.

Panorama is something new.. It looks like a prepayment or coupon plan. Ive used these downloads for years and always considered them legal... In fact when KAAPA first started CAVS was on their list of good guys..

Panorama Records is the ones that do Top Hits Monthly if i'm not mistaken!  They are the ones CAVS use.  Although THM isn't necessarily legal either,as they seem to put out songs that others are denied licensing to!

Or they could be granted exclusive licensing rights to certain material Lonman.  I did a search and found them listed as a sub-label of RCA which is a sub-label of BMG.  Sounds as if they would be legit if it is the label is the same as the one producing the original music.

They have put material out that was yanked, such as the Evanescence tunes... they DO play it a bit loose. I complained to the POP Hits Monthly folks why the THM guys could get "It's My Life" when SC and Pop were denied. They didn't outright say it, but rather hinted at the fact that there seemed to be something shakey about it.

SC pays for their material, and are very, VERY open about whether or not certain artists are a yea or nay for karaoke... will tell the people on their request board that certain songs are denied for ALL manufacturers (and they say that specifically)!

I'll believe SC many more times than I will THM!

This is straight from Cavs:

Quote:
The songs your purchase from CAVS webiste are fully licensed songs.

We offer Decoder, Encoder and Play CDGs.
Encoder is used to extract song files from a CDG disc, and it is necessary that you have a CDG compatible drive, we recommend Plextor PX 716.

I looked around you can also down load from the THM website for Cavs. I am going to go to the Cavs User Board and ask if Panorama is THM. I think Maninblack may be on to something. Panorama is their monthly subscription name on Cavs. When they list Panorama as the company for the download maybe that is what they are referring too.

zoom has a website to download and has an american download connection with tricerasoft which also offers top hits monthly downloads as well.
If you're using wifi connections as kiosks, you can also download while you're playing from AutoKDJ.  If I were starting out I guess I moght have ripped with a naming convention that is compatable with autoKDJ as I like it's layout. With wincue alongside the karaoke plugins and winamp, one can get by with just one instance of winamp.

I have little reason to go to those sites, but I am curious; at what bitrate do you get those tracks. Do you have a choice of bitrate? Do you pay more for a higher bitrate?

Jian take a look at this - http://www.cavsusa.com/cinet_home/index.htm

Minus one - is without vocals
Multiplex - is with vocals

Now under the heading Listen you have 2 options in yellow boxes.
I have no idea what that means.

Feeling blonde today?????????
:jk:
It is just as it says, the yellow buttons are to LISTEN to the song.  The 2 different buttons are for the quality you will listen at.  128K for faster internet connections, and 48 for slower connection.

I just went and have a look at the sites. Many of those mp3 files are at 128kbps. With fast internet conection and cheap storage nowadays those files should be at least 192 or above.

LMAO I think it is my eyes that are blonde - I was seeing M instead K after the numbers. I couldn't understand what the heck that meant. I'm still not ready to admit
my eyes are getting old. They aren't quite bad enough to get glasses yet, but a couple more years I'm sure I won't be able to get by.

I agree their down load choices are sparse. If I do this I would use
THM directly. I heard the Cavs versions are horrible music quality and
what the heck is Panorama.

I joined the Cavs user forum and asked about their down loads. I'm
still waiting for a response. After you post with them you have to wait 24 hrs until they will release your post. What is that? All I can assume is that they sensor all posts before they are released. What are they afraid of?
