I'm going to set up the system in the bar basement and practice on it until I get real comfortable and then move it upstairs premanantly. In the meantime the periphials of the computer acquisition will be worked out and I will be going digital immediately. My question for this thread is I want a backup CDG player for now. I was wanting to get one locally, because my mixer is coming in tomorrow and I will be able to set this up this weekend...but no CDG player yet. The only local players I've found so far are,

Vocopro 10G 880      $219 from Karaoke dealer (overpriced, I know)     single tray
V2go     from same dealer $200    single tray
Cavs    $259                              single tray
Vocopro 5 tray player      $299

I understand Vocopro gets bad reviews here, but is that across the line orjust select models?  This is first I've heard of V2go.

A guitar store I called has a single tray RSQ 500 for $229.99. I was excited about this one until I realized it might be the NEO version, which are badly rated on this board. Will call back tomorrow to see if its the NEO version, if it is...no go. The RSQ MK22 is popular, but some reviews have been lackluster at best.

Of these players above are any of them good enough for a backup, I need to make more calls and search for more options. Anyone have the Numark or Gemini players? The Numark (dual tray) looks good, found it for $225, but it might not be sold locally. I hate to throw $$ at something thats gonna break down in a month or 2. If nothing is too favorable, I may just bite the bullit and order it from whereever and forget about this weekend KJ setup. I was excited about getting this set up for this weekend. Hey boss why's the floor vibrating?    :hi5:  :dancin:

Thanks for replies,

VP players I wouldn't touch if they offered the players to me for free to use for advertising.

I have had the dual disc gemini cdg player for just about 6mths..no issues yet, which I was in the market for just a dual disc cd player, but for the extra cash, picked up the one that played the cdg's as well.  I've been totally happy with it.  The only downfall that I can see, is the dual video outs, one for each player, so you have to buy a switch box.  I love the speed of the loading and unloading of the discs...that rocks...I'd buy again...MrD

There are several for sale right now on e-bay. Usually you find them refurbished or used because they are discontinued. Here is another.

RSQ also has a new dual tray kind of like the NuMark - I wouldn't be surprised if that who makes it, but their CS staff says not.

The T-2K.  It's still pretty new so haven't heard any reviews on it yet, but I would probably go with an RSQ over most others in this day of limited players.
Or if you can find a new or slightly used authentic JVC/RSQ model

or the triple tray model Babs mentioned from RSQ (which JVC made).  Or the actual JVC model

Heres a list of those players.

The MK22 that is being advertised IS NOT made by JVC!!!!  Beware on sellers trying to dup people.
