I have a nice / expensive CDG player and setup, but lately it doesn't like to play some disks and in most cases won't play disks that people have recorded - Niether of these have been problems in the past.
In looking at the player it has a little digital display that shows you what track is playing and it counts of the time in seconds and minutes while the track plays.
For the problem disks that won't play, you can see some of the syptoms on this display.
Normally when you put in a disk ad close the shuttle, the display is falshing until it scans the disk and registers the display and player at the start of track one. The tack indicator which was two flashing lines becomes 01 for track one and the time indicator that was 4 flashing lines resets to 00.00.
During the bad disk niether of these settle like the player cannot locate the disk info and orient it's self to track one.
Anybody have any ideas - Is this laser head adjustments stuff or some other thing? Can this type of player be serviced and by whom? Is tghis just basicall CR-ROM stuff and normal CD repair guys can work on it?
FYI - A demagnitizing disk help a bit and continues to help on some, but I really think there is a larger problem and this is becoming less effective and never was a 100% cure.
