Hi, Gals & Guys about a year ago i stared converting my cdgs {almost 500} over to audio + g files. the conversion is now complete. tho i'm still correcting a few song errors and such. i created one folder to store these in. but the folder will not let me put more than 40 gigs in it. is there a way to increase the folder gig size? i would like to put all my songs in 1 folder or will i have to have 2...my files are stored on a 250gig external hard drive running xp...thanks in advance for any help.....cal |

Differant... Download Space Monger from http://www.sixty-five.cc/download/ It gives you a 30 day trial. Will show you exactly what your drives like. Some nifty tools as well. |

Think you will find that FAT32 has a max partition size of 32Gb. You can fortunatly convert from FAT32 to NTFS. |

Cactusjack, What OS are you using. I did try putting all of my MP3s in one folder using XP and an eternal 250 gb Maxtor drive, and only could fit about 10,000 to 12,000 files in one folder. I don't remember the exact number. |

I'm not 100% sure on this, but if you do change from FAT32 to NTFS, you may lose all your data on the drive. I was going to convert an external drive last year and if I remember correctly that warning came up. I have a WD 250 external now but left it as FAT32. I would definitely back up what you have so far onto a different drive before making any changes just to be safe....Drea. |

If you use external usb HDD or regukarly add new tracks I have found it is best to have A-K & L-Z folders inside the karaoke folder.. This cuts down the opening time, search time, defrag time etc.. Everybody should have at least one backup and as new ones are added a good folderclone prog helps... Also it is best to have these files on fat32.. Other OS including linux can access them... I prefer to have the OS on NTFS either in a seperate partition or HDD and libraries on fat32... Currently I have 10 gig for XP and 10 gig for linux Either one can access the KJ or DJ files.... |

So true, I use all the letters of the alphabet. I have coverted hundreds of FAT32 file systems to NTFS. Only had about 10 crashes. Well... Do you feel lucky... Do you... |

The reason I put them in so many folders is because I do manual search. |

My GOD man, get a hosting program! ![]() I too put my songs in folders, but I did it by disc number. My discs are in CD binders and each slot is labeled for 001 to 600 (2 CD binders). When I ripped my discs, I put each disc in a folder labeled from 001 to 600. That way my CD binder slots match my disc folders on the PC. Each song is named thusly.... 256-02 - Williams, Hank - Born To Boogie.ZIP That means that song is in folder 256 on the PC and slot 256 in my CD binders. And that song appears in my books as.... Song# | Artist | Track 256-02 | Williams, Hank | Born To Boogie I did this all becasue I wated my discs to match my computer to match my books. If my PC ever dies I can use my discs with NO PROBLEMS. |
