I've noticed for a few days (at least) that SS has been really slow for going to profiles and back to songs, and comments. Seems this is worst in the evening before 11pm. Later at night (after that) it usually picks up some speed.
Perhaps some load balancing needs to be done here, or split parts of on another server and/or disk? More resources.
Anyone else noticing this? It's so bad for me it is mostly unusable because of wait times to do any task.

What kind of connection do you have Morgan? Is it dial up or broadband?

Not just you. I was going to post this but I was concerned it was my sluggish system. Apparently it isn't. I have broadband and it's been very slow in the showcase the past two days

Singer's Showcase is extremely slow to respond. It makes commenting on peoples songs more of a task than it should be and takes some of the enjoyment out of the whole site. I click on my name or someone else's name and sit back and wait for 20-35 seconds just for the screen to change. It's sort of frustrating since in my mind, this is a major part of the site's worth. (Just my opinion) I know disk space isn't free or anything :(

Today, Saturday March 24th 2:35pm CDT I am trying to go to my profile in Singers Showcase and I get a wait time between 34 to 40 seconds for the profile to come up. When viewing, editing, and reviewing / replying to comments the profile is essential. It is in my opinion practically unusable at these speeds, that is unless we want to take all day to go through and manage comments about songs. Please do something about this response time. Seems you either need more processing power or some type of RAID set up for performance, or perhaps you need to move certain files to disks that aren't as busy utilization wise. You should be able to do some load balancing to improve this ongoing problem. If you are using another company's servers you should be able to request they do this for you.
Thanks.

Why am I the only one commenting about this? Today and last night I am waiting sometimes 1 minute or so between profile pages. This is way too slow. I'm surprised this hasn't been fixed or improved in all this time. I know it is this site because all my other sites are very quick. I can only assume that everyone doesn't look in this section of KS so SS singers are unaware of the thread.
Please look into this. I assure you this isn't just me.

I have noticed it also in the past few days...After I finish commenting, it can take as long as 2 minutes for the page to change.
Bill, maybe the reason why no one has mentioned it before you is that they gave up waiting for the page to change to get here!

Yeah, I would be a lot more active with comments and replies to others if performance was about 5x to 10x faster. As it is, you can easily kill hours just waiting to try and listen and comment on 10 to 20 singers. That means IMO, that everyone is impacted and SS is not as active as it could be. Since KS takes in money for SS accounts over 5 songs I assume this can have a potential revenue penalty for the site owners.
Hope it improves soon.

This is often due to the file size of the profile. Everytime someone posts a comment it updates several database files at once. I have working on a method to change the process.
Also, this can be due to numerous people posting comments at the same time. This backlogs the server response time!
If the site and the members here weren't so popular and we didn't have so many talented folks here - it wouldn't be a problem!
I will continue to sort out a work-around...

I concur with the others. I've only been around here since the first of the year and have always had slow response times. I have broadband that clocks in better than the average in our area, typically over 6000kbps. I've grown accustom to the slow response times at SS but would love to see it rectified. Although I do know these things are like racing, "how fast you wanna go always translates into how much money you wanna spend." My wife & I had thought about becoming paying members but with these slow server times and now the fact we can't access SS at all from home without running through a proxy, we simply can't justify the expense.
Thanks,
Robby
