Is there a way to search using keywords in the forums?

As forums age and store many posts in the data base the search mode becomes worse and gradually useless. Click on search in the menu. Insert more than a few words and select exact text or whatever it is Usually select by thread to find the topic you are looking for..
One of my pet peeves is those posters that admonish new members "why didnt you do a search?) You do a search and you have spend hours wading through the unrelating crap in each thread to find the answer.
