Yes Foxe, I was aware of whatsmyip and others like it and sure enough I was at work without my home IP addy.
As for the force be with me..... I'm almost to the point where my force may be a Louisville Slugger. As we say round here...... "TINK!!!!!" That's the sound a good 'ol aluminum bat makes when applied properly to the noggin'. LOL You gotta know us lil guys can't play fair and a bat just evens things up a bit. LOL
I'd battle this fire all day if I had time but our SS members karaoke party is set to kick off here in 4 hours or so and we'll prolly go all night long. Noon till wee hours of the next morn... that is sufficient is it not? LOL Maybe I can find time to squeeze in a tech support call this morn. RR did call yesterday and leave a message for me to call them back. Yep.... may the force be with me.

I'm back from vacation in Colorado Sunday. This site has been unavailable again to me since I left (the 15th). I am unable to access using normal means and have to use I proxy - which I won't do very much because of security issues. That means until this is fixed I won't be using this site or Singers Showcase. This has been going on for a month now, so I'd say it's time to light a fire and at least identify the problem Phil. Will have to cancel my SS subscription soon at this rate.

I know it's been a while but in between work and family deals over the summer, I have not given up on trying to rectifiy this issue. Just yesterday I sent an email to corporate Road Runner and AOL hoping one or the other would act. RR responded promptly telling me they can't do anything since it's an AOL server that's at fault. Of course no response yet from AOL.

I am on RoadRunner cable and haven't been able to get to this site in about a week with that connection. I can connect from my phone which I am using for this post. And from free netzero dial up but not roadrunner dial up through the phone modem. This connection time out happened first in May for a few days but started connecting until this past week.

I'm at home now connected with RoadRunner high speed cable. After reading a few threads on this I tried turning off the pop up blocker and it let me in. I haven't made any changes to any computer's browser hooked up on my network bu yeat turning off the pop up now seems to let me in the site where before it wouldn't. Interesting!

yeah that kind of fits somewhat with something I'd mentioned earlier that happened on the forum I'm an admin on..
One of our members all the sudden couldn't access our site after having done so for a long time... they tried several things.. their router had a parental control setting in it..w hich they'd had on "off"... he decided to mess with that.. "off" setting stopped him from coming in to the site.. but "disabled" let him thru.
Another person had AOL couldn't get in all the sudden one day either.. but could with IE.. if I recall correctly, AOL used to advertise they have parental control software built in.. we suggested to that person to look further into that but I don't believe they ever did.. and not long after that we moved to an entirely different server with entirely different php coding on our site which so far hasn't seemed a problem but I guess we'll see if one of the php updates down the line starts it again.. or.. if software updates to people's routers and/or browsers creates a problem again.
By any chance does your pop up blocker also have a phishing setting in it... cuz just "pop up" alone shouldn't have disabled the site for you you wouldn't think...

I only tried connecting on the lap top last night which was one I had been trying to connect with for a week along with desktop. Within that week I had tried three different browsers and no luck. The first thing I tried last night was from within IE at the top toolbar a drop down had a choice of enabling pop-ups. I enabled and it connected right away. I will investigate when I get home tonight and try the desktop with it's browser and see what happens. The funny thing is how last month it would time out that lasted a couple of days and then connected fine for a couple of weeks without any changes on any of three computers at home. So was last night just coencidental and pop-up enabling had nothing to do with it? I just don't know.

The pop up blocker is not the cause. I could not connect at home on any computer no matter what browser settings with blockers etc. So it looks like no showcase or regular posting from home unless I use this phone to access like I amdoing now. It's kind of disappointing for sure.

I understand that there are several members on the site that are still experiencing problems connecting.
I do apologize for this unfortunately it is beyond my control. As you can see our site and server is up and running. If there was an error with our server NO ONE would be able to access.
It does appear that there is a major routing / networking error with several servers that are owned by other companies. Emails and phone calls have been made. But there is no guarantee that these will resolve anything.
I will continue to follow up on this and if we are still experiencing troubles after the 4th, I will change the IP addresses for all sites associated with Karaoke Scene. This does not guarantee that the troubles will be fixed but it should force a DNS update. Unfortunately, this will also cause the site to be offline for all users for a period of 2-72hours.

I have been accessing this site daily for many months. Never a problem, not once.
Sometimes you can get bad routes that are broadcast and picked up from elsewhere. Anyone having a problem should learn to use a traceroute program and post the results of that.
Here is ny traceroute to the site:
Code: 1 gw (10.10.10.1) 0.750 ms 0.711 ms 0.695 ms 2 out.perusion.com (12.176.97.129) 2.164 ms 2.645 ms 3.136 ms 3 pop.perusion.com (12.124.109.105) 22.109 ms 18.109 ms 22.579 ms 4 gbr1.dtrmi.ip.att.net (12.123.208.98) 35.080 ms 39.042 ms 36.043 ms 5 tbr2.dtrmi.ip.att.net (12.122.12.177) 38.011 ms 38.990 ms 40.973 ms 6 tbr2.cgcil.ip.att.net (12.122.10.134) 42.461 ms 42.967 ms 38.951 ms 7 ggr1.chail.ip.att.net (12.123.4.17) 39.935 ms 40.426 ms 36.340 ms 8 so-6-0-0.mpr2.ord7.us.above.net (64.125.13.21) 39.615 ms 36.863 ms 36.623 ms 9 so-1-0-0.cr1.ord2.us.above.net (64.125.30.146) 32.348 ms 128.804 ms 36.843 ms 10 so-1-1-0.mpr1.lga5.us.above.net (64.125.27.170) 49.283 ms 53.744 ms 49.724 ms 11 64.124.44.213.interserver.com (64.124.44.213) 54.707 ms 51.190 ms 55.172 ms 12 core-01-teb1.us.njiix.net (64.20.32.174) 51.660 ms 56.141 ms 52.628 ms 13 edge-05-teb1.us.njiix.net (64.20.32.6) 58.111 ms 54.604 ms 55.580 ms 14 karaokescene.com (64.20.49.194) 54.064 ms 58.547 ms 59.031 ms
Once that is done, we would have a fighting chance of directing reports to the right place. Otherwise, it will be useless to complain.

True, anyone who can be of help by learning what you already know would be a help to those who are already trying their very best to help. I guess for me though I was trying to be of help for others here by trying and posting what little my knowledge allowed. Of course it didn't help but no complaints here...it's not the end of the world for me for sure. I hope for all the helpful cool people here you guys can get it fixed for those who really need the valuable sharing tips from people here. Good luck and have a nice day.

Well by some bizarre alignment of the planets it appears I can connect here for the last few hours. Who knows how long it will last this time. If I start being able to connect on a regular basis I may have to ban myself like Steven did LMAO .
Just for grins, and so all of you can see all the crazy jumps my connection is taking through Time Warner (Roadrunner) here is my trace to KS:

Now if you can give us that when you *can't* connect, that will be the key.

We just returned from a mini vacation to find we're capable of getting on this website again without going through a proxy server. WOOOOO HOOOOO Darn shame we've both forgotten everybody's names and how to sing. I just hope this new route we're taking stays good. I'd like to think my email last week to Road Runner and AOL detailing the route and the troublesome server lead to correcting the issue. All I can say is now it works and we're taking a vastly different route per the details shown via a tracert.

Attention please:
Coming directly to you from America Online...
It's, UM..... Well, I'm not about to divulge who I am lest I give away
my anonymity.
The problem might now be resolved ! America Online is once again working with Karaokescene forums.
