The slow performance has to be one reason for the post count drop. A user can not come here and cover ground very efficiently. Many will not bother if they can't cover everything in a timely manner and the first thing to go will be making posts.

I have been working on improving the speed the website loads. There have been some server issues that need to be modified. Hopefully, will have these implemented soon. Quote: I just tested http://karaokescene.com/forums/ with the Full Page Test in Pingdom Tools. This specific test was done on February 25 at 08:42:52 from Dallas, Texas, USA. The web page took 1.73 seconds to load, used 75 requests, and weighed in at 923.1 kB. The Google Page Speed performance grade for this web page is 71/100. Additionally, there has been an increase in hack attempts (all failed/blocked) Over the past two months an average of 300 IPs daily!! Note: the server should be rather fast - it has a 8 core processor with 16GB RAM.

Slow, slow, slow, at this very moment in time. From pingdom.com: v… Tested from Amsterdam, Netherlands on March 4 at 06:07:32 Page size1.8MBLoad time7.59sRequests96Perf. grade68/100 Your website is slower than 82% of all tested websites I ran another test at webpagetest.org and got back some interesting results. You can see them in their archive at this link: http://www.webpagetest.org/testlog.php? ... ene&all=onI think maybe facebook ads and google ads don't mix. I have also noticed in some of the slowest moments they both have their crawler bots on the site at once.

Odd - I tested again and it shows that it is rather fast?
I wonder if there are network connections that are causing issues?
Well, there are Google AdSense on the site, but no Facebook ads?
Pingdom: Page size: 801.6kB Load time: 1.37s Requests: 78 Perf. grade: 71/100 Your website is faster than 82% of all tested websites

It is really, really slow right now at this very time. In fact it is always really slow at this very time everyday. If I come back in a couple of hours everything will seem just fine. If you are going to try to figure out why it is so slow, perhaps checking it at the time it is slow would be helpful. I ran another test, you can find the results in the logs from the previously posted link. Here's some additional data from GTmetrix:

Exactly what time Pacific are you trying this?
It may happen to be in the early morning between 1am - 4am when we are doing server back ups.

The time logs are on every post, and translating to PST is a fairly simple task. Phil, you asked for people to post the times of the occurrence and we have ever since. All you need to do is scroll back through the posts to see the pattern. Phill Cross wrote: Can you possibly supply times that this is occurring?

Although I have experienced it at different times throughout the day. So perhaps some of it is somehow related to your server back-ups, but should that really slow things down that much for that long?

I just had another slowdown right now (at 5:45 AM EST, which would be 2:45 AM PST). This time it was taking between 1 and 2 minutes to go from each of the different screens I described in my earlier post.

I cannot figure out what may be causing these issues?
I have been unable to recreate the situation as the site and forums runs really fast for me?
I know that there are several people having this problem but when I check the error logs and server stats - there doesn't appear to be any flags??!!
I will continue to try to find the problem.

It's actually much better for me since the last changes you made. I have only noticed a few times where there was an unexpected delay but that could be several factors beyond site performance.

I have found it to be consistently slow and very slow during all of the times previously reported since the reporting started. I don't believe anything has changed or been repaired. I just got tired of reporting it. Now when I'm on in the morning, I just get frustrated and drop out.

The time now is 9:31 AM (EST/DST). It just took me 10 minutes to get to karaokescene.com. Once in, it seems to be responding with about a 10 to 20 second lag.
Update 1 1/2 hours later (11:02 AM): The lag time is now about 1 minute.

Seeing that this post is growing, I have to chime in and say I not noticed an lag on KS.
I do live in Iowa, with a 100/10 connection though.
Where are your servers located Phil?

OK, I was wrong. About 1 minute after I posted above, KS died. I could not get to anything. Did a ping/tracert and above is what I got. BTW....at the time of this post, all seems OK

I am looking into this...
The servers are located in New Jersey with a co-location in Texas.
I have not seen any evidence in the logs of any down time.
There must be a network connection that is causing this error?
Server IP 64.20.50.125
