Post subject:  Any News ?

On whoever is SUPPOSED to be working on the bugs of this website ? VERY unprofessional to have a website ran like this ! Im so sick of logging in to read the boards finally getting logged in and the it tells me I have to have at least one post to do it... This is my second post today ! Im po'd ! ( If ya cant tell ) AND not that it matters to whoever is SUPPOSED to be working on this problem. Because if it did there would be proffesionals working on it already. Im glad we dont pay for this portion of the website only SS and while it has a bug or two too at least I can still upload songs. I GUESS I should be happy with that however it would be AWFUL NICE to communicate with you all without all of the hassels !

Even after you log in to KS are you still getting a message similar to this: "Sorry, you are not authorized access to "Karaoke Discussion Forum" until you have a minimum of 1 posts."

I know this is the kind of message people get when they try to read a forum without being logged in.

From experience you never ever update without a full data base backup and you dont do multiple mods at one time. Although my forum has all but died I have updated to phpBB 3.0 and it is in full working order.

In order to solve these problems, someone is going to have to be able to characterize them. Information like what operating system, what browser (including the version from Help->About) and what ISP would be appropriate.

Personally, I have had no trouble at all. I believe the vast majority of people have no trouble. As a result, it isn't going to get much of a priority, especially if the ones who do have trouble don't help out and share the information about their implementation.

If the problem can't be duplicated, it can't be solved. So it would behoove anyone having a problem to try and give enough info that it can be duplicated.

I suggest, also, that people having a problem go to the library and try to log into the forum from there. If it works, it is pretty obvious it is something with your browser. If you use Firefox, try IE. If you use IE, try Firefox.

Im SOOOO glad you havent had any problems and there ARE a majority of people who are having trouble BUT because YOU are not YOU havent noticed the posts about them ! I dont need to "help" anyone out sir. Whoever messed with the website needs to help US out IMO ! I dont know anything about websites all I know is I want to be a part of THIS website ! Implementation ? What do you mean by this ? Its like you are talking a foriegn language (to me anyways) . If you can help please do so if not I dont think you need to be telling me or whoever else that are having trouble what to do about our troubles with the site maybe you need to tell whoever messed with the website to begin with how to fix the problems. Sorry I dont mean to be snippy Im just really frusterated about this whole situation. Again if you can help please do so. It is NOT aol, I had a problem last year with my Topic Reply Notification notices that go to my email letting me know when someone responded to my posts, I stopped getting them all of the sudden & EVERYONE kept telling me including PHIL that it was an AOL issue well low & behold whoever messed with the website recently, did whatever & now I get Topic Reply Notification. NOW REALLY do you believe that AOL fixed whatever was wrong with the TRN at THE VERY SAME TIME that someone here messes with the website. ME NEITHER ! SOOO it WAS NOT an AOL problem it was a problem with THIS website ! So the AOL excuse has NO Validity with me whatsoever. Again sorry about being snippy .

Actually the AOL excuse is very valid. AOL is KNOWN for problems with php board which this is. I used my work computer last night through AOL as a test & experienced all the login & relogging in problems. Had to login 5 times before it would stick.
When I shut AOL down completely & went to my regular IE browser, logged in once & it was fine.

Post subject:  Re: Any News ?

You did everything but give info that would help.

If you said what your operating system is (i.e. Windows XP), browser (i.e. what is in your Help->About) and what your ISP is (i.e. AOL) then data can be gathered.

Until such time as you do that, it is just a rant and won't help anyone.

I am not a site admin, but as a web programmer myself, I know that If the problem cannot be duplicated, it cannot be solved.

You probably already know this, but I haven't seen it here. If the users complaining are all AOL, then there should be a pretty easy code fix for the sessions stuff. I don't have access to that, but it is described at:

http://www.phpbb.com/support/documents.php?mode=faq

Question 10. It is a simple edit of the code.

Post subject:  Re: Any News ?

It's not all AOL users, but most who have complained about being logged out & having to retry are on AOL.
Hopefully Phil will see that & be able to make the proper code adjustment.

Post subject:  Re: Any News ?

Okay - I received an email from several people regarding some problems...

For whatever reason I was receiving error messages - so I have been unable to access.. Not certain what caused that.

Anyway it appears that i now can access the forums and I will have to read through this and any other threads completely before I am able to figure out what the problems are...

I am sorry to everyone for my harsh emails back to you but I have been getting bombarded by several members one after the other - I don't work on thsi site full time - and I don't monitor it full time. I have a career and a life as well.

Pleas enote that this is only a website - if you can't access the world is going to end!

That was in the Virgin version of PHPBB this is a modified version which uses a different method so that code has already been changed.

I am going to create a new thread. I want those that are having problems to login and tell me what the problem they are having is/are! No one else is to post except those with problems.
