Could the mods do the folks a favor here, and at the very least, add a "misc." or "other" category to the tech forum? I would like to post what I believe ( with my EE, ET, and AE) to be important info in regard to Power and Video, and there is no place to do so.

If it doesn't fit into one of the specific catagories, the Tech Forum itself is kind of a catchall for the rest.

I I wanted to post info on, say, power conditioners, it doesn't fit in the specified catagories, and I can't add a thread to the forum itself. The question is, where do I post it? Is there some sort of technical difficulty ( admittedly, I don't know if this is the case or not) preventing the addition of a "Micscellaneous" or "Other" category?

You can post a thread (start new topic) in the Technical Discussions forum.
If the post is believed to be better suited in another forum one of the moderators will move it.
There are already several sub-forums; General or Misc posts belong in the main Technical forum.

New threads can only be started in each of the sub-forums ( none of which are appropriate for the subject matter that I suggested). No way to add one, or a new category to the main tech forum. Can only be done by the mods. 2) I agree, but see above- I can't add a General or Misc. to the main tech forum, or I would have- which is why I posed the question. You know what? Never mind. I get enough debates it the Legal forum. No biggie. Let it go... Didn't mean to make waves....

Surely someone with an "EE, ET, and AE" can figure this all out.

Probably because this is the ONLY forum that I can't post pics and such, and also the only forum that has a problem keeping up with my two-finger typing, where I have to wait for the words to appear in a post before I continue to type.. Since it's only here, I have no answer, but I appreciate the time and effort given to input. No worries. Again, not a biggie.

You post a pic simply in the upload attachment section under the normal submit button. Then click 'browse', find your pic, open it, then click 'add the file 'lonman.jpg.

C'mon Lon- do you realy think it's an instructional problem for me????
Sigh... been through this already. Will explain again, then let it go- as I hope you will. The Manage File and similar buttons click, but do nothing in my case. The normal New Topic button in the Tech forum does the same.
Again, it's just here. No biggie, next subject.
Bazza, if you knew what an EE, ET, and AE was, you would realize that none of the three has anything to do with software. Look them up. Then you'll know.

Try a different browser. I use IE for most things, but certain sites do as you describe. For those I use Firefox and they work fine.

It's not the browser or the problems would arise in all or some of the other forums or sites- it doesn't. Not only that, if it WAS the browser, and this was the only forum with a problem ( and it is) I wouldn't bother changing it for one site. Let it be...

The information provided by the moderators and myself are for the assistance of all visitors. If there is a problem we are attempting to find a resolution. While we understand that you may no longer wish to discuss the situation, we would like to determine WHY there is an issue.
I use Google Chrome for my default browser. However, I use use IE, Firefox, Opera, as well as, Safari when developing or checking site functions.
I, as an administrator, can check user access authorities and use the site using any members settings and permission to test. I have done so with your account and have been able to use the "New Topic" button. Therefore, I know that I am confused as to what is causing the problem?
You may not be the only person having this issue - just the only one that has spoken up regarding it. I would very much like to resolve.

I finally figured out what Joe wanted Phil to do and from what I see only A MOD can do it.
He did not want to post a new topic in the Technical Questions part he wants an new heading in the Forum part.
Yes you can start a new topic but you can not add a new category.
There are headings for the cagegory's of Amps, Computers, Mics, Mixers, Processors, and Speakers but he wants either A Misc category or maybe something specific like
"Joe's how to repair it" category or something to that effect.
(did I get it right Joe?)

We knew that much. There is no reason to add a separate catagory for power conditioners. This is more af a misc accessary piece which would just fall into the main tech forum as it's own thread under new topic.
